The Vines I believe has been recently taken over by new owners/management. They are still trying to find their feet, but are open and upfront about it from the moment you check in. The staff were friendly and helpful, the beer cold and crisp, the room clean and peaceful. I think once they get their rhythm the vines will only get better, though I did enjoy the feeling of it being like coming home to mum and dads which sometimes is a good thing and needed.

Staff were very helpful. Room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was cooked to order and quite delicious with cereals, juice, tea and coffee available to help yourself. Disappointments were car park surface was very potholed (no tarmac) and no food available on arrival but it was a Bank Holiday Sunday and had to pay again for the room as the hotel had not received my payment from Hotel.com. I would normally expect the hotel to sort that out directly but I got a quick refund from Hotel.com and compensated for the hassle. I would stay again whenever I am in that area.

This was our 2nd stay at the vines. The rooms are nice, the staff are great and the food is excellent.

Pub with rooms rather than a hotel. Restaurant menu was 3 pies 2 meat 1 veg served as it came no choice ( nice pie to be fair) not a restaurant! We didn’t have breakfast. Room was clean and functional but beds desperately needed new mattresses and shower was very temperamental. Carpark needs resurfacing potholes dreadful. Property has a good location in a quiet setting with friendly & welcoming staff.

Nice friendly place, easy to find, quite and plenty of free parking. Decent breakfast.

Not great at all. I believe there was a change of ownership 3 weeks ago. Breakfast was poor. Asked for a vegetarian option and there was none. Room house keeping did not happen. Room was fairly clean but carpet was horrid overall. Overall not a great experience. A shame as the reviews seemed good.

Wasn’t a hotel room was like a cheap motel out side shed , poorly maintained, bathroom was fitted by a blind man , no restaurant although advertised, feel really misled by the advert on here ,

The room was clean and had everything needed. The breakfast was lovely and safe for someone with coeliac disease. I will go back.

Room okay, breakfast good, staff very good. But disappointing to learn on arrival that no evening meal. After 350 mile drive would have liked to have known before arrival that meals not avaliable.

Damp smell in the bedroom and bathroom

The room we stayed in was tiny. There was a rack to the side of the bed with space to hang clothes and put luggage, but the space between the base of the rack and the bed was only about 8 inches. The drawers at the bottom of the rack could not open all the way, and there was nowhere else in the room to store anything. There were lamps on both bedside tables, but no outlet on one side, so one was useless, and there was nowhere to put it out of the way. The bathroom is fairly newly redone, but the shower has no niche or ledge to put soap or shampoo (and there are no dispensers). Breakfast. The room is large and impersonal. The drip coffee, boxed cereals, and supermarket sliced bread on offer are reminiscent of a cheap American motel. There is no menu for a cooked breakfast, but you can make modifications to the full English. I would never stay here again. There are similarly priced places with bigger rooms, better breakfast, and the option to have dinner there.
