A bit dates but clean and lovely staff

Easy location to find and not far to walk into town centre Plenty of parking space Welcoming friendly staff Compact room but had everything we needed & bed was very comfortable Breakfast was delicious

My first stay at Rothay Garth and the friendly staff - Joanna - made the experience more delightful. Finding the location via car GPS was intriguing. It said the location was on the left when the actual address is on the right side a little further down from the GPS indication. After making couple of rounds we found it and glad there was parking was available. Overall, Ambleside is a perfect location as a base to visit the lakes district and Rothay Garth was an excellent choice.

Breakfast was great. Parking a bonus. Room was great only small but served the purpose and comfortable bed.

Really happy with where we stayed. The rooms were a good size, the staff were all friendly and amenable, breakfast was decent and location was perfect too

Good location, staff were great. Only downside is having to share a table with other guests at breakfast.

Would suggest putting a large TV in the communal lounge for people who stay in most of the evening

Although the decor and building felt a bit dated - lots of dark wood and patterned carpets - it was very clean and the staff were brilliantly friendly - remembering our names to greet us in the morning. The breakfast was straightforward and tasty and arrived quickly - loved the fact that there was cake on the breakfast buffet! It was quiet at night too. Had to air the room as there was condensation on the inside of the sash windows but wondered if that was because it wasn't possible to double-glaze them. It was plenty warm enough in chilly March and had a lovely warm shower and big fluffy towels. The room itself didn't have a lot of space for storage, just a small slightly musty cupboard which we didn't use in the end. It would have been nice to have some herbal tea and biscuits in the room. I think it's generally quite expensive to stay in the lakes as this was more than we would normally pay to stay but the location was excellent for walking and Ambleside itself.

Friendly staff, clean room and only a hundred yards from the centre. Breakfast was excellent in a nice large bright room with conservatory.

Had a lovely stay here in March for a long weekend. We were welcomed so warmly and the room was beautiful, with everything we needed. Would definitely return! Thank you ☺️

Breakfast was great, staff were attentive and the place was very clean. Theres lots to do close by, plenty of trails and next towns are maybe 5-10 mins away if you fancied more. My mrs and I were really happy with everything and would certainly recommend it to anyone!
