The Arc de Triomphe was erected by the Emperor Napoleon in 1806, and standing tall at 50 meters (164 feet), it is one of the most famous landmarks in Paris. Located at the center of Place Charles de Gaulle at the western end of Champs-Élysées, the arch honors those who fought and died in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars.
