Traveloka Crazy Sale Surabaya: Together with Hundreds of Partners and Thousands of Tourism Sector Workers to Accelerate Economic Recovery in Surabaya

Surabaya, 9 June 2021 - Traveloka Xperience, one of Traveloka's business units, Southeast Asia’s lifestyle superapp, held the Crazy Sale Surabaya promotional program from 27 May to 6 June 2021. Aiming to help Xperience partners in the East Java region, Bali, and Lombok run their business activities during the pandemic, this program is held to commemorate the 728th anniversary of the City of Surabaya.

“Crazy Sale Surabaya is a manifestation of our commitment to play an active role in promoting national economic recovery, especially for the lifestyle sector. We saw that many business partners, especially SMEs, had difficulty surviving during the pandemic and even closed temporarily. We are very pleased to see consumers' enthusiasm in participating in this program, which has positively impacted more than 1,200 industrial workers in East Java, Bali and Lombok. Of course, we also continue to consistently promote the implementation of the strict CHSE protocol for consumers who want to enjoy their lifestyle activities," said Terry Santoso, Head of Marketing at Traveloka Xperience.

In collaboration with more than 280 local partners from the Attractions, Entertainment, Spa & Beauty, Sports, Playgrounds, Tours, and COVID-19 Test categories, Traveloka Crazy Sale Surabaya succeeded in increasing traffic by 4 times during the promotional period, with an increase in transactions of up to 3 times for Attractions, COVID-19 Tests, and Spa & Beauty products which made it as the highest transactions per day since the pandemic broke out in March 2020.

Ir. Antiek Sugiharti, M.Si, Head of the Surabaya City Culture and Tourism Office, expressed her appreciation towards Traveloka Xperience's initiative through the Crazy Sale Surabaya program, which contributed positively to revitalizing the local tourism sector in the Surabaya city. "Tourism is one of the most affected sectors by the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in a lot of business actors in this sector going out of business. To overcome this situation, the Surabaya City Government has optimized the potential of domestic tourists or local tourists around the Tourist Attractions (DTW) area and explored interesting activities within the city, of course, while remaining disciplined in following health protocols. With the positive achievements of this Traveloka initiative, we hope that local tourism will bounce back so that it can help the economy of tourism workers, especially in the Surabaya area and its surroundings."

Emdee Skin Clinic Surabaya, one of Traveloka Xperience's partners who participated in Crazy Sale Surabaya, stated that this program was successful in helping increase product purchases and exposure. "We are delighted to be joining the Crazy Sale Surabaya program because we get more exposure to Traveloka users, so our treatment orders have also increased significantly, which could be supporting our business continuity," said Marvin Kristian, Lead Business Development & Strategy at Emdee Skin Clinic Surabaya.

During the Traveloka Crazy Sale Surabaya period, there were several top purchased products, namely the Naraya Clinical Laboratory for ordering COVID-19 tests, Emdee Skin Clinic Surabaya, Taman Safari Indonesia Prigen, and Attractions at the Jatim Park Group. These products experienced a significant increase in demand, reaching up to 300% compared to the mid-April to mid-May 2021 period. Some of these destinations are also included in the DTW area, which is the focus of the Surabaya government.
