Grand Hotel Rockdale

Room reeked of urine. Complained and left. Staff were lovely, apologetic and said to seek refund. So i wrote via expedia and no answer.

Clean room and amazing staff

restroom/toilet shower is outside the room and no one to man front desk or answer emergency phone. woke up at 3am to use toilet and forgot my key inside room..was locked out till 9am next day...same thing happened to another guest who missed her 6am flight.called police, they came but also failed to get hold of person incharge and could not help..nor the fire brigade...master keys could not open the rooms

If you choose to stay at the Grand Hotel Rockdale I urge you to consider that decision very carefully. At 4am on the night I was staying there the fire alarm was activated. What emerged was that it was by a guest unable to access their room. The reason why they did this was because it was a young female traveller and there was no phone number displayed for contacting the management - she had felt vulnerable. When the fire brigade arrived, it then became apparent that there was no staff member present on the premises. Effectively the guests had been locked in and abandoned for the night. If you are locked out or have issue accessing your room after it is closed then you are on your own. The fire brigade tried contacting the owner, without success and eventually found someone an hour and a half away. Some people who had left rooms in a hurry when the alarm sounded remained lock out and missed their flights - sleeping on the stairs. The rooms have no information displayed about emergency exit routes or a contact number. On arrival no guest was given any contact sheet with such information. Eventually, those who could return to their rooms were allowed to do so - however about an hour later the police then entered the hotel and were banging on doors trying to see if they could find a staff member. The issue would have been equally concerning if someone had been taken ill or needed to contact a staff member during the night Wholly irresponsible & management made no apology in AM

Room was tiny. No AC and it was HOT. The bed was extremely uncomfortable but the game room/lounge was decent

Good basic pub style accommodation. Staff were polite and helpful.

Staff were friendly, checkin was easy, room & bathrooms were clean for their age, great location, very quiet in the room considering it is on the main road.

The room was large but shared toilet/shower. Stained chairs and bedspread. Air con works well. The biggest issue was the street noise. It was cheap, and it has good connection to airport, not withstanding the fact the bus doesn't go to domestic at early hours, and there is no street guidance. So, you need navigation software. Enjoyed the pub downstairs, and a $10 meal at nearby mall.

The lack of aircon was absolutely brutal. Barely survivable in summer.

Nothing like the photo at all and 43 stairs to get to the room and i was there for a surgeon appt for a bad hip. Bistro on complex didnt do any tea they were closed .Had to park in a unsure area behind the hotel which had to climb 2 lots of stairs. No running water in room had to fill kettle up in bathroom that was shared with the rest of the floor.bed didnt even have a quilt cover on the bed was a smelly brown blanket . Had to buy discenfectant to do the room and bed. Felt unsafe in the bar and pokie room. Worst experience ever. Have photos to prove what we should of got to what we got. 5 poles to support the front of the hotel and we went up the road and when we said where we said where we were staying we were warned to be careful and to stay safe. NEVER EVER AGAIN

Staff were very courteous. Spotlessly clean rooms, unfortunately the bathroom water taps took awhile to release hot water. Great location, only walking distance to train station. It was a pleasure being a guest. Thankyou

No breakfast

The single bed room was exactly as described with ceiling fan, mini fridge, handwashing basin, tea and coffee making facilities and tv. The window sash was broken therefore it could not be opened which made the room a little stuffy but otherwise it was fine.

The price was rite. It was in close proximity to the domestic airport.

The room was fair, and no air conditioning; it was hot, and there was just a simple ceiling fan, good for nothing. The shared unisex bathroom and toilet were pretty run-down. No lift, you have to drag your suitcase and belongings up the stairs to the accommodation level and bring them back down the same way when leaving. The amount of noise from the street and traffic is unbearable. No one's there in the morning for checkout because the reception is part of the bistro. It was convenient though, given a shirt drive to the airport. I won't recommend it for someone who's looking for a decent accommodation butit could suit a low-budget client.

There was fighting on the property. The property details were not listed properly. I Moved out on the first day although i booked for 3 days.
