Very well priced hotel in the middle of town. If you're planning on having somewhere to rest between sightseeing or a stop over location if on a traveling tour, this hits the spot. The breakfast was excellent with vegan and vegetarian options. In the summer it may be a little toasty during any heatwaves, fans are provided. I stayed in one of the single rooms. I would return.

Extremely friendly and courteous staff, in particular the lady who checked us in and the breakfast team. The hotel is being systematically renovated and the public areas are of a high standard. Our room was clean and well maintained and whilst the bathroom was clean and functional it would have benefited from being renovated. That said, there was nothing seriously wrong with it. The price we paid represented excellent value for money. Free and secure parking in a dedicated building adjacent to the hotel.

We stayed in room 3 on the first floor. I requested a room with a walk in shower as I have hip issues . Sadly, There are no rooms with showers on the ground floor. We had to climb up two staircases and down two staircases. 36 steps in total. The decor and paintwork was very tired. Chipped paintwork everywhere. Handles broken off the wardrobe. The toilet roll holder was barely hanging on the wall. The ceiling had rusty spots on it. The George is situated in the town centre and is great for being central. There was quite a lot of noise from cars outside late at night and loud talking and laughter from the street below. There was an enormous independent market in Frome on Sunday. Some really lovely stalls with and lots of lovely food to sample and buy. We had some delicious dairy ice cream made by an independent local farmer and was the best we have ever eaten. There is secure parking but it is a two minute walk away and the spaces and access is very tight. Also, there are roughly only 10 guest spaces and once full, parking in the the town centre car park is the only other option. All of the staff were very friendly

Pubs and hotels have to decide whether they are places for people to meet in quiet convivial surrounding or whether to plaster every wall with large TV screens and invite crowds of football supporters, packing the place to the gunnels and being loud and raucous. The George seems to have decided on the latter. We will not be returning! Checking in was difficult as staff seemed more intend on serving beer Shame because the fabric of the building had a lot of charm.

The positives: George Hotel is in a fabulous central location, the staff are really friendly and helpful, the room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and very well decorated. It was very good price too. The negatives: the comfort room was very very small. Struggled to get around each other and store our belongings. We also rang earlier to say one of us was cealiac but they still didn’t have gluten free cereal or sausages. However the breakfast was good and they did have gluten free bread. Despite the small negatives we would definitely stay here again - but would request a bigger room NOT the comfort room. 😁

The dining room tables weren't right down enough there was constantly ants and other bugs frequently crawling on the table. Management did not provide fans in the dining room when it was severely hot weather.

We arrived just before 6pm and there were no parking spaces left. This was fine as there is a car park close by. We stayed for a gig at the Cheese & Grain but when we came back at 10.30pm the bar was already closed. We went back out & when we returned to our room there was no hot water. A cold shower it was as very sweaty post gig. We were woken repeatedly from about 4.30am by loud lorry noises in the street and then buses early on. So a poor nights sleep. Having been awakened early, we decided to go for a run before breakfast and again there was no hot water on return, really not ideal. We reported it at breakfast and it seemed like all our fellow diners also had no hot water. We were assured someone would sort it out. We had breakfast, which despite being the only people waiting to order took an extraordinarily long time despite there being 3 staff on. After a lengthy breakfast we went back to the room and still no hot water so another cold shower as we had little time before check out. We then packed and went to check out and complain about the hot water. We were not allowed a discount despite not having a basic facility for he entire stay. This was a birthday present for my husband and pretty disappointing. I would not stay here again.

This choice of accommodation was probably a bad one in a heatwave, but even without the room being like a furnace, the facilities left a little to be desired. The ceiling in the bathroom was all peeling, the room was tiny (two single beds) and the window opened out onto the exhaust from the kitchen which ran till closing time and then started again noisily at 7am. Frome is lovely and the location is great, but don't whatever you do stay there in a heatwave. We barely slept.

Hotel was really nice and clean the staff was amazing friendly and professional. The rooms was clean but the only criticism was the room I had booked was classified as a cosy double room but it wasn’t. it was a single room and not big enough for 2 people. Only because a double bed was in the room doesn’t mean it can be classed as a double room. So if you was a single traveller it would be perfect. The food was nice but a little expensive and it didn’t serve pub grub it seems more gastro food. Apart from that we had a fantastic time. Thank you to all staff at the hotel 🙌

Parking was limited but luckily got a space, a bit of a faff to sort but explained really well. Room needs some modifying, bathroom ceiling was quite bad, skirting board falling off in bathroom and the flush was hard.

Had a 3 day stay at this lovely hotel / pub in the heart of Frome. We upgraded to a balcony room and were not disappointed - the room was huge and even better it came with a lovely big bath tub and a super king size bed!! Considering the size of the room, the balcony, huge comfortable bed, and secure parking we thought it was a really good price - much less than some of the other places to stay in the town. I am told the breakfast was excellent (I preferred a lie-in) by my partner. All in all very satisfied!! Frome was also a lovely place to visit for a couple of days!
