We enjoyed our stay in Totnes - a lovely and interesting small town with plenty to do. The hotel is an older building and in many places could do with a little investment in the rooms. Staff were friendly and breakfast was excellent.

The room was clean and had all the required equipment. The air con was very poor. Only went down to 19 and would then go back up to 23 by itself. We didn’t use it. We had a desk fan but they just blows hot air around. The hotel is in desert need of an upgrade, it’s tired and worn out. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. It’s a very convenient place to stay to visit Totnes but the car park only holds 5 cars. When we returned in the evening all the spaces were taken and I was told some might be staff. We parked in the high street which is ok between 6pm and 9am otherwise the paying car parks are a good distance away.

There are 20 rooms here but the car park has about 7 parking spaces. Be prepared if you have a long drive like I did - because there were no spaces when I got there, I bought myself an extra couple of hours (and a bathroom break) by shopping at the local Morrisons. I was told by the staff of free parking on the weekend but everywhere I went to where they told me to was not free. Eventually I had to park at the railways station which brought me 24 hours parking. The room was -very- humid. I had to open a the window as much as I reasonably could (it has a sign warning that if it’s left open too much the pigeons might get in). TV had basic freeview channels so if you like Ant and Dec, or Law and Order SVU, you’re probably going to be quite entertained. Facilities otherwise ok, towels clean, bathroom clean. Not as many plug sockets as I’d like, I remember there being one, and I had to stretch it from the I had to wait the next day for a parking space to be available in the hotel car park so I got to watch it intermittently until someone left and I could park long term. As for staff helpfulness - I decided to leave early on my last day (the breakfast is ok, not worth staying for if you want to leave earlier for whatever reason), and going downstairs at 0500 there was nobody on reception and no apparent means to contact them. I later went down at 0600 and was nicely checked out by the security guard.

Beware, there is no elevator. Parking is nonexistent, and I had to park on the street, but at least it was free after 6 pm and since it was Saturday/sunday, it was free. There was a problem with the boiler, and there was no hot water, but we worked around that. The hotel itself was built in the 1600 s and so was quaint and beautiful. Food was great, service was great, and the coffee perfect.

Great Location, 1 night stay caught it on a Tuesday which was Xmas market. Friendly staff, breakfast included which looked amazing but unfortunately had to leave early morning for a meeting. Lovely local pub up the road, the Lord Nelson for sport and friendly people. Will definitely stay again here. Only downside, very small car park so had to park 10 minute walk away but the town is very scenic so was happy for the walk.

Carpark is small but we got there early and parked. I checked if it was ok as we could t book in until 3 but were told yes, 1st come 1st served. Receptionist friendly and helpful. Room seemed ok on first looks but when we returned that evening it was so hot that we had to sleep with the window wide open and then it was really noisy due to a coach/ bus stop right opposite our room. Also the water pipes made a lot of noise during the night, the beds were far too soft and we barely slept. In the morning the shower was a lovely temperature but the ratchet on the head was broken and it wouldn’t stay up properly, just washing the back half of the shower and the toilet seat moved every time it was used - was nearly off at one point.
