The hotel was an oasis after our flights in from the US. They had an excellent dinner & breakfast in the hotel, so we didn't have to hunt something up before heading to Portsmouth for our cruise. It was within walking distance of Southampton Common, for a nice walk as well.

Very tiny double room. Would not want to stay there more than one night. Last time we stayed at the same place, the room was huge. Unfortunately it was very hot; 27°c in the room due to there being warm weather outside. There was a fan but it didn’t bring the temperature down! There was a window open but only a top window so no air came through. Also, the towel rail in the bathroom was heated so it was even hotter in there! The bed was very comfortable & the cooked breakfast was good.

I stayed for one night, in the middle of the heatwave, before joining a cruise the next day. Firstly, the hotel offered a great rate for 'cruise parking', saving me 50% had I chosen to par at the dock itself! I arrived reasonably late in the evening, just before 'last orders' for food in the bar yet I was promptly served (excellent lasagne) in the garden, which was lovely given the light breeze to counter the heat of the day. The barmaid hunted high and low (twice!) to make sure that my drink had plenty of ice, which was much needed, and greatly appreciated. When I got round to moving into my room, it was great to find that a small/portable electric fan had been supplied, which was a life saver, given the stifling heat of the day and night. Also, during the process of moving in (via an outer door!) I managed to leave the door key 9attached to my car/hoe keys!) in the door overnight, without realising and was really relieved that they were found by the Night Porter and then that the receptionist phoned me the next morning to let me know! Much appreciated. I had a good breakfast the next morning, at a reasonable price and was then delighted that the Receptionist was willing and able to book me a taxi to take me to my cruise. Again, very helpful. As I had a few hours to kill before it arrived, it was great being able to safely store my luggage at the hotel while I did some local shopping. When next staying in Southampton, I will be returning! Thank-you Michael

What a delightful Hotel in a very convenient part of Southampton. We stayed there for 2 nights prior to boarding a cruise . In hindsight, it wasn’t as close to the port as I had thought, but not a problem. The staff were all lovely and nothing was a bother. Beware though, that it is a double bed and a single .My husband slept in the double - he’s 6ft 2 and there was no way the two of us would have been able to sleep in the same bed. Neither of us are on their breaks slim side . The only negative was the rubbish bins outside were under our window and we certainly heard the glass bottles etc being emptied into bins AND staff talking quite loudly out there when on their breaks -we could hear every word - perhaps mgt may like to have a chat to them .! Just a minor thing, but still it impacted on us . Would definitely stay again 5⭐️

We had booked two double rooms and both were clean and spacious. The en-suites were clean and modern. We had breakfast which was freshly cooked and tasty. We will look to come here again, if staying in the area.

Due to the unexpected, overwhelming heat we were so very uncomfortable in our room!! There was one fan to move the hot air around - the room faced the sun and the drapes were wide open which allowed the sun to BAKE the room!! (No extra fans to be found!!) Just realize there is no A/C when booking this hotel!! Breakfast was just ok, and there were only a few wait staff and the space is very small - it was too much work for them and too many people in one small room. Be very careful of a very slippery tub/shower… it can be very, very dangerous! The young female bartender was very accommodating with our requests for ice!
