There were quite a lot of steps outside to climb to get to our room but it was a lovely room once inside with a nice modern shower room. The bed was very soft but comfortable and there was a fridge with fresh milk inside which pleased my husband who dislike little fiddly pots of the uht ki d. There was a residents only sitting area outside next to a field of lovely scented oil seed rape. We had to be out early one morning and they were very obliging with a breakfast tray of bacon sandwich and croissants for us to collect the night before. Only 5 minutes to Goodwood and not much further into Chichester

If you want a cosy country pub with a log fire this is the place, the atmosphere was great along with the food and lovely room. I couldn’t fault it, and has now set the bar high for my next country pub adventure.

A few bits we were unhappy with and could easily be improved. Firstly the only toast offered at breakfast was sourdough, which was hard and really difficult to cut. We werent the only customers to comment on this. The bins and full ashtray we walked past when going into our room wasn't very nice to see. Privacy was a bit of an issue with a few chairs directly outside our bedroom window and staff members having a break there. I must say the staff were really welcoming and helpful. But would rather not have to pull my curtains to maintain our privacy. We did mention this when we checked out and was told the staff have to go somewhere which i do understand. But surley there is somewhere else which doesn't impose on your guests? Also the half used tin of coffee in the room is not what i would expect from a decent establishment. The fresh milk in the fridge was a nice touch though. The evening meals were tasty and everyone friendly. Thankyou to the lady who sorted our television out.. Amazing area with brilliant walks and easy parking opposite the pub.

A lovely old 'proper' village pub. Great service and food (just the right sized portions for dinner and breakfast as well. Room was initially warm (we were fine in January without the radiator on all weekend) and the mattress was very soft and bouncy (for us at least compared to what we are used to).
