The set up of the resort within the rainforest is incredible with nature everywhere. We stayed in a rainforest cabin and it was fabulous

One of the best hotels we have ever stayed in worldwide. Spectacular setting and beautiful beach; rainforest villas in the heart of the jungle with copious wildlife (macaques, dusky leaf monkeys, monitor lizards, great hornbills, otters swimming in the sea, butterflies...); outstanding and really friendly service; excellent food. There is very little not to like about this outstanding hotel in an outstanding location.

The best hotel we stayed so far..excellent and attentive staff from check in until we check out. The room is very nice and spacious. My son love the bathtub. Delicious food at gulai restaurant. The breakfast was great. Sad to leave the hotel, hopefully we"ll come back soon

Datai is a unique hotel. Mostly hidden in rainforest the villas are quiet and secluded and the service is excellent.Our beach villa had everything, enormous living area, seperate bedroom area, pool and beautiful gardens. Datai beach is just through the garden gate, safe swimming and at this time of year we were often the only ones in the water. Our "butler" Nazif did everything for us, presenting afternoon tea, organising dining arrangements, buggies and much more. It was hard to find a reason to leave our haven other than to eat. Big thank you Nazif.
The 4 restaurants were all excellent offering a wide variety of cuisine and the happy, friendly staff were always keen to look after you.
The Datai is up there as the overall, best hotel we have experienced in all our travels.

From the moment we step into the property, I felt like I was transformed into another world of lush tropic jurrasic world. I remember saying it out loud, Is this heaven. The check in was fast, we were given map and explanation of the property by Zul (i cant remember) and nice welcome drink in a Malay traditional water container called Labu by Ain.
Then we brought our welcome drink to the pool. The pool staffs are all friendly & amazing!
We love the adult pool so much and spent most of our time swimming with the birds who flew for a dip in the pool after flying in the sun!
Now the Datai Bay private beach, the Butterfly Park, the Datai Pledge team lead by Irshad Mobarak did an awesome job with the biodiversity project. I just hope there are more plants at the Botani Butterfly Park.
We also want to try the Complimentary Water Sports activities, yoga, pilates, spa , cooking class, the beach educational program on Tuesdays and so much more!
We end our day with a scrumptious Beef Ribs Rendang and signature Asam Pedas at The Gulai House! Azlan host us pretty well at the Gulai House.
We wish to be back for their Chef Series with Michelin Star chefs series!
I am so happy with my stay. The Datai, youre above and beyond magical!
