Welcoming staff menu was great

Beautiful property, wonderful staff. The only problem was the elevator (lift) was not working.

Spacious room with lovely view- spotless. Great wallpaper - colourful exotic birds, very stylish. Super pool with attractive decor. Helpful staff, well trained. Courtesy bus from theatre to hotel after performance much appreciated.

Check-in went well, staff helpful and friendly. Dead insect on window sill, but room appeared to be tidy, maybe empty for a while. Room has suitable, amenities, but dressing table mirror is too low to use, maybe a lower seat? One thing that was an issue was the heating, too warm even with radiators off and windows open. Lovely hotel, staff and surroundings though

We arrived at the Atholl Palace Hotel with high expectations. We loved the idea of staying at a castle for a couple of days and enjoy the atmosphere and scenery. Although the staff and scenic views were great, unfortunately our stay was spoiled by a series of events. First night we went to the bar restaurant on premises and the food was edible at best, also overpriced. Leaving the restaurant and heading towards our room on the 3rd floor, the elevator broke and we had to carry some of our bags 3 flights up (we had two 5 year olds with us as well). Arriving at the room my daughters found 3 sets of dirty underwear right next to the bed. Second day, I tried taking a shower and there was virtually no water pressure. It was as if water was passing through a couple of straws. Moving on later that day we were sitting by one of the fire places when the owner appeared from the restaurant and very subtly told us to go somewhere else as he wanted to the sitting area there for some of his guests. My friends booked the same rooms at the same price and their room was clean, bigger and never they encountered any of the things my family and I did. The staff sent us an apology note and a bottle of Prosecco. Although a nice gesture, our stay was horrible. I did communicate all the above at check out and I was told someone would reach out to me but that never happened. Very unfortunate!

Warm welcome

Rooms were great, clean food was excellent and grounds were stunning. Loved the spa facilities.

Rudley woken by the cleaning team before 07:00 with slamming doors and loud talking and occasional shouting outside in the hallway for approximately 20 mins.

Expected a bit nicer room for the price

Our stay was very pleasant, the outstanding staff were in the Stags Head bar. The service was outstanding, friendly, knowledgeable and extremely careful of our comfort. Also special mention of the restaurant staff. Breakfast was a pleasure with very nice staff and excellent food.

All old hotels creak and have cracks here and there but that's not a problem as it is the staff who make this a great place. They were so courteous and very friendly.

Very nice impressive building. Lovely grounds, well staffed by friendly and attentive staff. Just needs Ev charging points to bring it up to date.

The bar offered a very good selection of drinks including Tennents lager and Champagne by the glass. The only issue I had was the newspapers in the lounge area had no Scottish newspapers only right wing English newspapers such as the Daily Mail and Telegraph. Perhaps a Scotsman or Herald for us locals. The museum downstairs was fascinating

The hotel has kept its charm things have been updated and it was looking great. Staff were very pleasant and rooms lovely. Spa facilities great.

Receptionist, not very pleasant. Welcome drinks at reception, we were not offered any. Overall experience could have been better.

Lift not working. Feel that someone should have carried our luggage upstairs. They did half heartedly offer to carry it if we couldn't manage. We said we thought we could but it was actually very difficult as there were more stairs than we thought and we are not in good health. Bar very shabby and not 4 star. Everything else very good

Breakfast was great

The mattress needs to be replaced; it felt like a pullout sofa mattress; Couldn’t sleep most of the night. The place has so much potential but it felt like a 1980’s eclectic decorating job - lots of mismatched styles & just felt out of date. The breakfast buffet had plenty of choices but it was just average. Disappointing from when I stayed there 6 years ago.
