I have stayed at the Angel previously but not for three or four years. The communal building is in need of lots of renovation. The chambermaids were efficient and friendly But the reception staff varied from friendly to disinterested. At breakfast there were not enough staff to replenish items. On one morning there were no plain tea bags and when I asked staff they could only locate de cafinated tea. We booked the restaurant for 8pm and when we arrived were told they close at 8pm. The greeter asked the chef and he agreed to cook for us. I grew up in Cardiff and really enjoyed my stay but I feel your hotel has some way to go to get even four stars.

Uncomfortable beds, hard lumpy pillows, tired furniture, lack of plug sockets and light switches (!), broken window, oppressively hot in one room, no breakfast despite paying £300 per night. Staff didn’t even ask how the stay was on check out, presumably because they knew the answer would be poor. Overall, we massively overpaid for a rubbish nights sleep.

Beautiful hotel , lovely decor and gives a real atmosphere of Cardiff of old , stunning breakfast and very friendly staff , the rooms could do with updating it’s not for everyone but I enjoy the architecture and character of the building , definitely stay again close to all amenities . Really enjoyed 👍 10/10

Great location in the city centre. Room was an ok size but the cleanliness really let it down. Thick dust above the beds, glitter around the sink and the carpets are really badly stained. The hotel needs some TLC but the staff were friendly and helpful.

It was a nice hotel clean and central.

Room was clean, but tired. Breakfast was very poor and over cooked. Staff were welcoming and attentive. The bar we did not use.

Great experience lovely rooms

We stayed in an end hall room. Beds were comfy. Noise levels were low. I told the concierge about possible maintenance issues and certain things about our room. They are looking into it. We had one night for the Pride Cymru Event. it was a great weekend.

Breakfast warm beans came out after I had finished matresses saggy room dated Windows so filthy you struggled to see out which was ashame as across from castle

Breakfast very good and staff excellent… the hotel is old and charming however old and in need of maintenance… but the staff made up for it!

The hotel has been bought out by Hilton group & is need of a refurb, as it's one of the oldest buildings in Cardiff. I didn't eat breakfast there. So annoying that you cant park at the hotel + have to pay £24 to park at Sofia Gardens car park close by.

The main foyer is lovely with the stairs and chandelier, room was ok but could do with a bit of modernization. The staff are really friendly and helpful. I will stay again.
