When we arrived we were assigned a room on the second floor. The room was in rough shape. My husband sat in the upholstered chair and the seat dropped way down leaving him looking like a child reaching up to the armrests. That chair should have been replaced long ago. The armrests were dirty, the room smelled musty and Smokey….the desk was marked up and chipped and the curtains were askew. It really looked like something that you’d see in an old dorm room. We went to the front desk and asked to be moved only to be told the hotel was full and there was nothing they could do. After a short conversation about the state of the room they agreed to move us. The new room was better, the chairs were clean and comfortable, the room didn’t smell but it was definitely outdated. Lesson learned, you get what you paid for.

There was a constant hummming noise in the room. Why don’t they include the parking in the price? And why not valet parking, long walk back if you’re elderly. Pillows and bed too soft. Soap doesn’t foam, bottles for shampoo etc all cracked for usage. Room is small, crown molding wasn’t continued around the room, aesthetically looks terrible. Staff nice. Way overpriced for what?

I stay up to 200 nights a year in a hotel due to work and this place is a complete dump. Moldy, dusty, and dirty. It's falling apart and no maintenance is being done. I couldn't wait to check out. I'd give it zero stars if i could. Stay at Hi Halifax Hostel down the street. The front desk staff was lovely and the sheets were clean, but that's about it.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The air conditioning worked well, and the breakfast was good. Overall, I had a pleasant stay and would recommend this place to other travellers.

I was happy about the location but was quite upset when we had sightings of mice in the hotel and 1 room vent. It is troubling when there are mice running around in your convention room. The hotel looks quite tired and run down from its' former glory. The carpets and vents needs to be cleaned. One of our guests had an immediate reaction to the mold when she turned the vent on in the room. So, 2 of our guests needed to change rooms.

Great location! 5 minute walk to the Harbourfront, buses, ferry to Dartmouth, and close to the commons area. Check-in and check-out, we're quick and easy. Staff were always welcoming and helpful. Room is clean, spacious and comfortable. The thermostat is a little outdated, it has no auto setting, and can be a little loud at night.

Old and dated. 1970s curtains and poor temperature controls. Peeling wallpaper and grungy grout. Way overpriced for the aged property. Staff were excellent at the front desk at least

Stains in the bathroom, the bed felt broken in the middle, we got pulled towards the center. Loud guests also added to the discomfort of our stay. No need to slam your door every 15 mins til 2am.

I left the hotel room 127 one night early because my stay was 4 nights and I had not received any housekeeping during my stay. Also, my daughter, who was staying in room 226 had broken AC and could not sleep due to too hot a room. Since she was my transportation I left with her. While having a drink at the Tempo bar/restaurant the night before [which is connected to the hotel lobby] we saw mice in the restaurant scurrying around the floor coming out of the kitchen area. Someone told me they had seen a mouse on the 1st floor which was where I was staying. I decided then I would never stay in this hotel again. My room/bed 127 was comfortable and clean, staff friendly and helpful but the other issues over rode my decision to leave 1 night early. I would not recommend this hotel.

We liked the location for touring Halifax. Parking is a bit of a walk from the parkade through mall and pedway and somehow the ticket I got from the machine was not valid and we had to wait about 10 mins for some parking guy to show up to open the gate when we wanted to exit parkade…parking was free for the first 2 days because of this. The pool was good but saunas were not working and no hot tub. We stayed 3 nights and no housekeeping services are offered for stays shorter than 4 nights. They don’t make beds or anything. If you needed something you could ask Front desk.
