The hotel is an old building with lots of steps. Not ideal for anyone with a mobility issue. Stayed here on a scorching hot day and luckily got a room with aircon which worked well (if a tad noisy). The room had some notable issues (fridge didn’t work, mirror in the bathroom was cracked, water damage to the area around the sink). Also worth noting is a lack of sockets by the bed. Staff were delightful

We booked the hotel for our 13th wedding anniversary, 13yrs is lace. Really enjoyed our stay. The room was lovely, clean and surprisingly cool considering the heat we are having at the moment. We didn't eat at the hotel so I can't comment. I would certainly use the hotel again. Just a short walk into the city centre.

Friendly staff, big room, quiet and a nice bathroom.

Shower wouldn't heat up, paid extra for a better shower, tables were dusty and dated, location is great what you are really paying for.

Needs renovations. Tiles falling off the bathroom, rusty soap dish, windows that don't stay open

Hotel took a mandatory deposit of £40 which you had no choice about. And said that after you checked out of being your account after a couple of days after four days, it still isn’t in the account. Staff is saying it’s been sent, but it hasn’t been sent yet. I stated at the time I didn’t want to use the mini bar which was poorly stocked anyway. It just seems very unfair that you have to do this and when they say they’re gonna refund your money, they don’t

Stayed here a few times now and it's always been great. Smart, clean hotel with an historic but modern feel. Great staff. Being city centre has no carpark, but a NCP multi storey is literally only a 5 min walk around the corner at lace market Bang on the city centre so everything at your fingertips

Very convenient but the hotel is very tired and needs some TLC. There is blown plaster everywhere from damp, old air on unit spitting out dust, holes in the floorboards in the bathroom covered by lino. Just generally past its best. Location is great if you’re looking to stay in the centre but it’s ok at best. Particularly for the price. Staff were pleasant enough though and it’s attached to a pub which is a bonus.

The stay at Lace Market was fine, but unremarkable. The room was clean but a bit tired and though exceptionally hot due to the weather, the aircon wasn't the best and windows couldn't be opened more than a crack. So yeah. Fine, but unremarkable

Good location for restaurants

Good location. Nice spacious rooms & bathrooms and we had a great patio. Only downside is the carpet (bit worn) would rather have hard surface.

The staff were really friendly and helpful. The location is great. It's far enough away from town centre to be nice and quiet but still easy walking distance to everything. The pub next door was really good with a great choice of real ales.

Great location and spacious room.

I have,stayed in this Hotel several times under its previous ownership when it was a good, 4 star boutique Hotel. The current owners have made it much more "middle of the road" and seem to have list the large bar and separate dinnibg area. These are now replaced by a small "Pub" style bar that doubles as the breakfast room. Consequently, there is obviously little time to sweep and clean after the night service meaning breakfast was served in quite scruffy conditions (the floor, and stairs into, the area we were sat in obviously had not been swept in a couple of days and the ledge next to our table had a very thick layer of brick and mortar dust from the bare brick walls. The general condition of the Hotel is fare and the room are clean and comfortable.The big plus point is the staff who all work hard, are warm, friendly and helpful.

Myself and my dog loved the hotel and the staff.
