Room was very hot, no AC and a fan that was stashed away in the wardrobe. A lot of noise from the early starting marquee construction as well as a party the night before. Generally the room was ok, bit tired could do with a spruce up. Shower overflowed if you weren't quick enough. Spa was nice but a lot of things not working such as the lockers, toilets and some of the other steam rooms. Staff were friendly and efficent. Wouldn't stay again

The hotel & the rooms are very nice, my only negative comment would be the rooms are too warm - there is a fan in the room, but it’s not very powerful. Even with the windows open it wasn’t cooling down (it wasn’t overly hot outside - about 24/25 degrees) Apart from that, I couldn’t fault it.

Faded grandeur! Reception/checkin felt chaotic and took a long time as receptionist kept leaving to turn off an alarm. She was apologetic but not a great first impression. The room was clean but tired, comfy bed

Mixed review. Hotel location perfect. Room excellent apart from no air conditioning. Breakfast superb. Afternoon tea lovely. Evening meal disastrous. Nothing like the menu discrimination and a chef that thinks the customers are fools. Do not trust the restaurant in the evening. Eat anywhere else!

The main parts of the hotel were very well presented and the dining facilities were beautiful. The bedroom was a little tired and didn’t match expectations from the photos online. The view from the room was very good and the room was fine but it had no wow factor as other Hilton’s have had when we have stayed there. The bathroom was fine but windows and floors felt a bit tired. Disappointing to see that even the 2 bottles of water in the room were not free unless you were a Hilton member. All the little niceties of staying in a hotel have now gone and it now feels like only the basics. Food was amazing and staff were all really friendly and helpful. Cannot fault the restaurant or staff (apart from the automatic service charge which was added to the bill and was around 15%!) we would have tipped anyway but this felt sneaky and rude on the part of the hotel (not the individual staff).

Poor water pressure for shower and sink, no air conditioning in fact towel rail on full despite current hot spell meant uncomfortable night. Rooms are a little tired for a very expensive stay (unfortunately Yorkshire show coincided with our business trip) it does have a great location and other bar/carters restaurant amenities were excellent. Spa not used

There are a few issues here. There are 2 classes of spa users. Those with robes, and those without. It’s not a good look to see the non-robe people clutching towels as they dodge the bird excrement on the outside patio, which could be dragged into the pool with one misstep. A daily jet wash is needed. The shower gel containers in the men’s area were all empty. You need earplugs if they put you in a room near the kitchen ventilator. You won’t sleep. The safe in the wardrobe doesn’t work. Too many problems for a £160+ room rate.

The hotel is lovely with great staff and breakfast. We used the spa area which is very relaxing. We requested a twin room which we didn’t get but the hotel was quite busy so maybe they didn’t have any available. We do visit the hotel regularly and love the location and will visit again

our room was clean and tidy, BUT, it was very small, no aircon, no fridge and only one chair! despite there being two of us booked in. it's a spa hotel, but we were only allowed to use the facility for one hour per day! The pool area was nice though, with steam room and sauna. Parking on site was expensive too. There was a wedding AND another party on so we couldn't use the beautiful gardens as they were covered with a marquee and closed off which was very disappointing, I feel the hotel should have told us about that when we booked. Disappointed with the hotel so won't be using it again.

It was a pleasant stay however the parking charges per night were not communicated prior to our stay. There also seemed to be poor communication regarding breakfast inclusion. The hotel is quite dated and furniture dusty and old.

There is no air con and we struggled to get a fan that worked. When we finally nagged so much that we got a fan, it didn’t do anything but blow hot air around the room so we didn’t sleep at all. The room could do with an upgrade - for £200 a night without breakfast it was a lot when it was a dingy room with huge marks on the carpet. No plug sockets near the bed, only two pinned. Bathroom was nice. Bar area looked lovely but was taken over by a wedding. Spa area lovely however my face still had exfoliating grit on when I came out of my facial, normally I feel moisturiser. The car park cost £36 for overnight because the spa could not fit us in until we had just checked out so we had to pay for another night charge. It cost us £200 for the room. £36 for parking, £180 for facial and back massage x 2. So expensive. We ate breakfast out. We won’t go again.

Lovely staff , very helpful. Had difficulty in finding a parking space due to temporary works in the overspill car park( Fri night probably a very busy night for the hotel ). Member of staff very helpful in finding me a space) - lovely fella. Lady on Reception was great and gave a warm. welcome. Historic building & vast. Room was very clean & served it’s purpose. Arrived late and departed early so cannot comment on dining .
