Bed and pillows were great, so comfortable. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to enjoy the pool, but it looked great. When arriving after dark the signage is very poor. Look for a small sign near the ground to the left of the zoo gate. Head down gravel road which needs lighting. Good range of breakfast but food was mostly cold. Warmer basically did nothing. Was nice to visit the mansion.

Reception was luck warm, room not too clean, bathroom sink in metal feel like you are in a kitchen, bathroom floor was not too clean, bathroom really small without bath mat and very slippery. The hotel was noisy during the night and the bed was so soft that you get stuck into them . Not great for your back. The breakfast is very limited, dinner room was not clean with fries on the floor from the day before, no fresh bread, disgusting coffee, no yogurt and limited food option. I would not recommend it

Excellent breakfast, lovely soft pillows and bed, superb swimming pool, the grounds are beautiful and the mansion very historic and great to tour. Our welcome was very friendly and professional. We will definitely stay again.

This is the worst property we have stayed at . The room was tiny. There were stains all over the couch. The bed was soft and lumpy. The bathroom was tiny and resembled a prison cell. We have stayed in 2 stars better than this 5 star. On the plus side the staff were very accomodating. But the room was simply way below par.

The location for the zoo, spa and winery is awesome.

Staff were amazing, and they made our stay extra special which I can't thank enough. I loved the food/ breakfast. Swimming pool. All the extras like going to the winery and mansion tour. The only negative was there was a wedding and the DJ was so loud with the base, till around midnight. I didn't complain in the night to ruin a wedding party and maybe nothing could have been done anyways. However I do think they should put guest part of the wedding on the back of the building and other guest on the frontz as it was so loud the glass was even shaking.

The room was clean and staff were lovely. We had 3 nights and overall a good experience, disappointing was no black out curtains and a spotlight in the grounds meant our room was light all night. Buffet breakfast was good but with a full hotel did not keep up with demand. Would stay again if needing to be near the zoo and mansion.

Staff are lovely and the grounds, facilities (swimming pool) are nice, the steam room is a nice addition but it is quite old and very noisy. The room was fine, basic but comfortable. Though no block out curtains only blinds which do let some light in first thing in the morning. Bathrooms are fine, again a bit old and the bath is very small. Tv was a bit slow, I paid for a movie (this was not charged for at check out) but it kept freezing on the screen. Breakfast is buffet style, again fine, nothing amazing, the coffee wasn’t drinkable though - recommend going to the refectory cafe onsite to grab a barista coffee. I had a voucher and got a significant discount off the room, had I have paid full price I think I’d have been a little more disgruntled. Overall a nice stay, pleasant staff and beautiful grounds but not a luxury hotel stay compared to other places.

Amazing smell in the lobby, room was small but super cute and comfy. Clean, beautiful and staff were very nice. Breaky was tasty.

Clean room, excellent staff. The heritage room was small and ensuite was adequate but the big plus was the building, the facilities, pool, gym, snooker room etc and the fantastic grounds gardens and history. Didn't spend much time in the room. Good breakfast included.

The Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The setting was also amazing. Unfortunately the mattress in our room felt like you were sleeping on a jellyfish. It was so soft and unsupportive that you sank down into it. Needless to say we had a terrible night's sleep. Using the shower over bath was also an accident waiting to happen. The curved floor of the bath was very slippery and there was no hold rail so you had to be very careful when stepping in and out. Both these factors made our stay much less enjoyable than it otherwise should have been.

Enjoyed the beautiful grounds. Breakfast was well done.

The pool and breakfast were great. Very friendly staff. Loved exploring the mansion and gardens. Enjoyed our short walk to Shadowfax Winery for an informative wine tasting. We will visit the zoo on our next stay.
