The stay was excellent. The room was very clean and it had a fireplace in it. The staff were very helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast.

Stayed here many times, always enjoyable. However on check in I was surprised we could not check in until 3:00! That was the posted time but all I wanted was to check in then leave my bags until 3:00. I was told no exceptions in what I considered a very abrupt and rude way. I have done that at hotels around the world, but not here. With two grandkids hoping to get to the pool they were very disappointed. Then at 3:00 we arrived back at the hotel and went to the back of a long line because nobody could check in before 3:00. Thinking of the customer. I think not!! Once checked in, every thing was very good.

Beds were terribly firm, whole family had problems sleeping on such hard mattresses. Rusty, iron pool gate is broken and falling on guests. Concrete flooring of pool is breaking apart and gets stuck in your feet. Concrete around pool is sharp and breaking (as well, in my kids feet). Please ensure to wash potatoes before cooking. Garbage and trash in parking area and walking areas outside of hotel makes it seem line your team doesn't care. Staff have a "take or leave it" sort of vibe. Definitely not the experience the website or reviews boast.

The Best Western in Kingston is always one of my favourite places to stay. I love the warmth of the wood decor.

The staff was friendly, but the hotel has a very unusual policy: guests are not allowed to use any of the amenities until they have officially checked in. My family arrived about three hours before check in, but because our room wasn’t ready until 2:00 p.m., they were not permitted to use the pool or any other facilities. Instead, they were forced to sit at a table and wait for nearly two hours. I have no issue waiting until the room is ready before checking in, but in all my years of travel, I have never stayed at a hotel that prohibited guests from using the amenities while waiting for their room. In fact, the exact opposite happened at the Best Western in Gatineau today. We arrived in the morning, were welcomed to use the pool immediately, and had a very pleasant experience while waiting for our room. Unfortunately, that was not the case at Best Western Fireside Inn in Kingston. I travel frequently for work, and because of this policy, the Fireside Inn will no longer be a hotel I choose to stay at. I also contacted Best Western Customer Service, and they agreed that the policy seemed unusual. They called the Fireside Inn directly and confirmed that this is a unique policy specific to that property and not a standard Best Western practice. This experience has significantly lowered my confidence in this location, and I will be actively choosing other hotels in the future that prioritize guest comfort and flexibility.

Good breakfast, staff was very friendly. Food at the bar was very good.

The room was clean, so was the bathroom but when we moved the couch it was disgusting. There was food everywhere on the carpet under the couch. The cleaning lady didnt get any of it! Secondly, the staff were extremely rude. When asking questions they are already hostile, they didnt help at all. Only made my experience worse. One particulier staff member though, Josh, was extremely nice and kind to me and my family.
