The hotel is VERY tired. It needs a lot of money spending on it, but if it did, it would be fantastic. Staff were really good but not enough of them. The guy on reception seemed to be doing everything. The swimming pool was really good and the gym looked good as well, but I didn’t have time to use it. We had a bar meal which was perfectly fine and a reasonable price as well. I hope the owners spend the money to bring the buildings up to scratch, ( a new coat of whitewash on the outside and complete redecoration on the inside would help immensely). We only stayed one night and for what we paid, it was perfectly fine, but I wouldn’t want to spend more than one night there though…

“Classic double room” No TV in the room. No teaspoons. Coffee not restocked. Bed was comfortable. No bedside light or power socket.

Breakfast was cooked to order...but they just couldnt get it right...scrambled eggs when I asked for poached...two of everything even though I specifically asked for just one ...but then covered in mushrooms cooked in GRAVY!. Dinner had a very limited menu...but what they did have was ok...except when we asked for desert...we were told they were all frozen and would take hours to defrost. Why...when they had 13 of us booked for dinner did they not think to take desert orders in time for them to defrost. But worst of all one of my colleagues was in bed when someone burst into her room. The key to her room had just been given to another guest...without any checks as to if they had asked for the correct room key. My colleague was distraught...and scared...and the whole thing was not handled well. We will not be returning to this hotel...and cant recommend it.

Th building is amazing or at least it will be when the renovation is finished. It will be jaw dropping. Absolutely loved this place, the setting was incredible and the first thing they started with, the most important thing, the beds so had an excellent night's sleep. Totally needs updating (I'm sure th teles were from the 2000s - at least 20 years old, but I was told that that was what they were doing, so by the end of the summer it should be done. I know where I'll be spending Xmas n new year ........... Highly recommended Stace

Nice hotel in beautiful surroundings however the decor is very tired. The staff were very friendly and hospitable and the leisure facilities were good. There is a very limited food menu on offer in the bar and the quality of the food was mediocre at best.

Clean room, warm. Spacious bathroom, Shower very powerful, water hot. Bed and pillows comfortable. Staff welcoming and helpful.

This beautiful listed building is set in very peaceful and calm grounds. The staff are really helpful and friendly. We loved the jacuzzi, swimming pool and sauna. The owners have plans to update the rooms whilst keeping the wonderful character of the hotel. We loved our stay here.

The hotel is extremely run down. Does not look anything like the pictures on line. Rooms very outdated, mould on the ceilings and property looks shabby. Staff were very friendly but felt very disappointed.

The pool was good. The room was very dated ,but it was suitable for a one night stay. Staff were lovely. It was a shame about the very limited food menu.

Staff were very helpful. The hotel is not as advertised on the website. It is tired and needs some tlc. Bed sheets were stained so need new ones buying.

Room was very dated only cleaned once in three days no change of towels.

Not impressed that bedside light did not even have a socket to plug into! Staff were really quite pleasant but bar area soulless and purely functional - not welcoming. Also emails from hotel before arrival really instructive and frankly not friendly and welcoming

It took me an hour at checkin to try and get my room - there was a breakdown in communication between hotels.com and the hotel and the advice was to cancel a pre-pay booking and bay them direct. As the room was non refundable I didn't think this great advice. It took a while circling through the hotels.com app to try and find a way to contact someone to get the two parties to speak to each other, which included having to download the app in the first place. The hotel had then run out of rooms, and I ended up in a family room which was fine, but the breakfast I had paid for was not attached to the room and I had to negotiate with the serving staff to get the breakfast. The second day I didn't bother as it left me feeling so annoyed. On checkout the computers were down so I left. All in all, a great shame as I won't be back at the hotel or using hotels.com again.

Under new management. Improvement is on it way. Room Decorations needed urgently. The entire pool changing area to be renovated. Brilliant staff. Drain toilets to look at emergency

The whole building was extremely neglected, dirty and in a state of disrepair. The only positive was the staff and you could only feel for them due to the negative feedback they must have to contend with. Mold on bathroom walls and all windows, the room and bathroom were extremely dirty. We didn’t check in till late and had to meet family and didn’t have time to check the room. We were not given a garden room as booked but one overlooking the car park! There are too many issues to post but will never return there. Unfortunately I’m not able to post the pictures but this place should not have one star let alone 3!! Be interested to know how Expedia rate the hotels they have on their site?
