Just a very nice hotel

We have always felt RIU was the top of the line with hotels and timeshares. We have 50 years of federal service and can stay wherever we like. We normally get a double queen room but were told you only had twin double beds. We went from the king size because my husband has spin issues and can’t be disturbed when he sleeps. The morning after the first room change to twin beds, we flipped the pillow to straighten it for housekeeping and found blood all over the larger pillow and in the lower section of the sheets. He doesn't have bleeding gums or sores. This is disturbing and makes my skin crawl to think he slept in this bed with someone else's blood on the pillow and sheets. We were not looking to change our reservation or seeking any discount. We just want a clean room with clean sheets. Please check your sheets and pillows for stains if you stay here. Maybe the maid was overworked and just overlooked cleaning the bed as she remade it for the next person, with THE SAME SHEETS. Two of the coverlets they use as bedspreads also had stains on them and the floors were dirty enough to turn white socks dingy and gray. This is below par for RIU.

We went on a Girls trip and enjoyed the hotel immensely during our 5 nights stay. Especially the breakfast buffet which was the absolute bomb. There were so many options to chose from. From all my travels, this has been my favorite breakfast buffet. The room was also lovely. Our only con was the smell of the carpet in the hallway on the 19th Floor. Something needs to be done about the odor as it was very pungent and the only reason we did not give RIU Plaza a 5 star.

Lovely hotel. Really enjoyed my stay.

Best smelling hotel . Employees were attentive and polite. Unexpected birthday gift was very thoughtful and appreciated.

Being able to check in earlier than the average time was amazing as our flight was super early.
