Great staff, amenities and close to the centre. its great to still have nicely maintained traditional hotels with friendlu staff. Breakfast was 10/10

Very good location for the city centre or for racing. The staff are all very friendly and the breakfast was wonderful. Could do with some upgrading and modernising, having said that I would stay there again.

Handicapped and traveling alone I was placed in a room so small that I could not open my suitcase. Staff referred to the room as the broom cupboard room. When I asked to change rooms the receptionist was particularly nasty and said she would arrange for me to move to another hotel because they didn’t need my attitude! Sadly this negatively coloured my stay. Breakfast, dinner and the bar were all fine.

The was very clean and comfortable, we were in the back of the hotel which was actually nice because of how quiet it was. All of the staff were very friendly and professional. The breakfast was classic British full breakfast with the baked tomato…Excellent location not far from from the Micklengate and close to old town York. The bar and other sitting areas were very comfortable and welcoming.

Ideal location if you’re happy to have a walk into the city and would like a peaceful room. Price is reasonable for the room. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. Good choice for breakfast and friendly servers. Would happily stay there again.

Not far to walk from train station, 10/15 min walk into town, very nicely decorated hotel, and well maintained gardens, friendly staff, good breakfast, and well equipped room, just the bath is very small but there is a shower too

The rooms were clean , the staff very helpful , we had a full English breakfast which was very good . I would recommend the hotel for our next visit

Good all round hotel. Bed comfortable, spacious room, very clean throughout, reasonable prices at bar, well cooked and presented breakfast. Only negatives, no fresh fruit for breakfast, only grapefruit, very small TVand biggest radiator in our room wasn’t working but this wasn’t a major issue for us but it would be in winter.

Clean rooms and good staff

The staff were really lovely: so friendly, helpful and efficient. The breakfast was delicious and the rooms were very comfortable.

Room was very clean, nice comfy bed. The staff were amazing, especially Donna on reception, Ollie in the bar (his first night, he said), and Bella in the breakfast room. Highly recommended

The wheatlands is old fashioned in a good way. Courteous and efficient staff, excellent breakfast and nice rooms which could do with updating but are fine and functional.

The hotel is located a 15 minute walk into the city but with some restaurants and pubs close bye. It is very clean and well maintained. The breakfast was excellent and so were the staff. Our room was small but adequate and very clean. We would stay there again.

Dirty tiles in the bathroom, dirty plug hole in the sink, big cobwebs in the bathroom. Evening meal was very good, potatoes weren’t very tasty and there was only one vegetable which was very undercooked broccoli

Just perfect little hotel pretty close to the centre. Breakfast great and overall service of the hotel was spot on
