Only one regret is the taste of the food in the morning buffet.
It’s too sweet and boring.
The material of the food is good.
Hope the shelf learns the taste.

Although the property was old and needed a lot of renovation the room was cleaned.
We booked room with breakfast. We stayed for four nights and had same breakfast everyday. The food was no refilled so if you don’t go early there are only leftovers. Female staff were fairly nice but there were few male receptionist who were quite unhelpful and rude. One good thing was they had lots of free rental equipment.

The Hotel is in a great location near the bay. Snorkling/diving available and some good restaurants nearby. They offer some snorkling and vest gear, as well as bikes for free. The breakfast buffet had a variety of options. They didn't have the hot tube open which is my only complaint since it was colder weather, and it would have been nice to use.

The staff was really, REALLY NICE and made our stay here quite memorable. This is an older (not a luxury) property, so consider that, but it includes some nice amenities: airport transport, pool, bicycles, proximity to dive shop and water. The breakfast buffet was yummy and generous, accommodating both Asian and Western tastes, and served in an airy space. Again, thanks to the staff for making it so pleasant!

Great hotel, is clean, the staff are very friendly and helpful, even though our Japanese wasn’t great, their breakfast is great and overall is a great place to stay in Amami.
You will definitely need to rent a car where ever you stay in Amami because it makes everything a lot easier to get around the Island.
Thank you to all the staff at the Hotel Caretta, we loved Amami and we felt very welcomed.

The hotel is very near one of Atami's many beautiful beaches. I stayed in the annex building, which needed some better upkeep. It appeared that the main building was nicer. The tropics certainly have more bugs! But generally, Hotel Caretta was a nice stay. The hot tub was nice, along with the breakfast. The pool was not heated.

We decided to spend the last two nights of our trip at this hotel...what a mistake. We had been staying in a lovely house, so when we saw the room we were very disappointed. It was like a prefab building in a car park, the noise when people were parking their cars, was right outside the room...until late at night. The room is small, very basic and looks out onto waste land. The worst part was the last night when the guests in the room next door were so noisy we called the front desk...but nothing really changed. It carried on late into the night and we couldn't sleep. Overall, we nearly just walked out but as it is was New Year we weren't sure on getting somewhere else. We won't stay there again...avoid especially the Marin rooms.

Our kids loved the huge pool and poolside area. The breakfast buffet was also really good. Our first impression when we pulled into the hotel was that it was old and needed some paint and renovations but our opinion was changed by the great pool, location and helpful staff

We liked the hotel, but it really came into its own when a typhoon cancelled our flight to Okinawa and we had to stay an extra day. The staff helped us change our local car rental and were helpful in many small but so-appreciated ways. The buffet breakfast and the a la carte dinner menu (with an English-language menu) were always good, and tables and chairs in the main building meant we could both work on our laptops the day the storm kept us from going anywhere. We have no Japanese and only one staff member spoke significant English but we all managed to understand what was going on with regard to storm-related changes. They made what could have been a difficult time very easy.

The hotel is close to the beach and it has a pool and a jacuzzi. The staff were super friendly and the food was delicious. Apart from the wi-fi (which is OK in the lobby but really slow in the rooms), everything was above expectations. I definitely recommend this hotel!

Need to be refurbished (outdoor paint, pool floor, bathroom)
But otherwise nice staff (can speak English), wonderful breakfast. Dinner is also OK.
Small beach in front of the hotel
Can also enjoy the beach close to Native Sea hotel (1.7 km). Nice restaurant there also ("Forest")
