Booked and confirmed via email . Got there at night and the hotel was closed . When calling the only number available the message says “ closed since November 2025 due to flooding “ . Our booking was online in January 2026 so they knew this already and still accepted the reservation . £200 out the window and had to drive to Abergavenny to look for accommodation late at night …

Maria, who is front of house, was so welcoming and later, in the dining room she tirelessly looked after us and all the other guests. The food was fantastic and I understand her husband is head chef, Joseph Colman. The rooms were attractive and very comfortable with lovely bathrooms. I would certainly recommend this as a wonderful getaway.

So thrilled to have found this little gem. Needed an overnight stay near Monmouth, we stayed on Boxing Day evening, with our dog. Beautiful room , We ate in the bar, food first class. I imagine we will pay another visit if in the area.

High-end country pub with excellent restaurant, the perfect weekend get away slot. Lovely staff, good service and near to a real-life castle. Although I recommend avoiding the room with a bathroom upstairs - cool initially but ultimately annoying in the middle of the night.

Great location to stay with a dog; dog allowed in front area of restaurant; plenty of dog bowls available and brown towel for dog in the room; nice walk along the river. Great food and service

Amazing stay, beautiful place and so quiet. Dolly (our dog) was also with us and didnt want to leave. Had the ensuite attic room - huge with views of the brige.

Gorgeously restored and decorated country retreat. Very friendly and efficient staff. Top class meal using local ingredients. Lovely break away. A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. Thank you Maria and Team

Bed and pillow was not comfortable, unfortunately, particularly when paying £250 per night. Food however, was excellent.
