We stopped by Lake Suwa for one night while travelling from Tokyo to Hakuba. Suhaku Ryokan has been tastefully renovated and is very well maintained, with a particularly inviting lobby where guests can relax. The onsen is located on the top floor, and the outdoor bath offers breathtaking views of Lake Suwa. The cheapest standard Japanese room has no view. The dining area is spacious, and both dinner and breakfast were of excellent quality. Guests are welcomed with a complimentary drink, and a free lake cruise is included with the stay. A convenience store is conveniently located next door. We also rented bicycles at the swan cruise area and enjoyed a pleasant ride around the lake. As it was only for a night we did not explore much of Lake Suwa and its surroundings.

This countryside onsen stay was incredibly relaxing. The spacious and peaceful atmosphere was a refreshing escape from the city. The staff were warm and attentive throughout our stay. The hot spring was soothing and left us completely rejuvenated. Having a complimentary beer after the bath was such a wonderful touch!

Suhaku is a wonderful hotel next to Lake Suwa! The room was big and had all the amenities I needed for my stay. The rooftop onsen was also fantastic! There was a separate side for men and women, and a possibility to reserve a private pool. The onsen had both an indoor bath and an outdoor bath with a beautiful view to the lake, and it was open until midnight so I could enjoy it even after a long day of sightseeing. Everything in the hotel was spotless clean, and the staff was also highly professional; Very polite and helpful. I had a great stay here and I wish to return someday.

Stayed here for two days with my family. The onsen is really nice - clean and with spectacular view to the lake (they also swap between male and female so you could try out both if you stay for two nights! I know that there’s also a private one which I have not tried). They also offer beer and ice pops after. The room itself is comfy, clean and spacious. The food is okay - great but not the best. They tried to rush for a bit in putting a lot of food down instead of doing course by course, that we have to ask them to slow down before all of our food cool. A really good location for seeing the fireworks at night, enjoy the sunset in the restaurant and start your morning with the amazing lake view in the onsen. They also have a fairly priced souvenir shop.

Great place! High quality onsen water. Very clean facility with a lot of covid prevention measurements. Located in the city center, next to the lake which makes it convenient and have beautiful view. Very pleasant stay.
