From the very first contact and emails before our stay, the staff were incredibly kind and attentive. Even at that stage, I already felt that we definitely wanted to stay here.
We drove from Nagano Station, and along the way we saw beautiful mountains, local life, apple orchards, and spring wildflowers. It already felt refreshing before we even arrived.
All the staff were warm and full of smiles, and they were very kind to the children as well.
There are three different hot springs, each with its own unique atmosphere. When I visited, it was towards the end of cherry blossom season, and seeing petals floating in the outdoor bath was simply beautiful and very peaceful.
Each bath can be reserved for up to 45 minutes, which felt like plenty of time. Guests were also very considerate, finishing right on time so the next person could use it comfortably. The place has a lovely retro charm, but at the same time everything is very clean and well maintained.
Both dinner and breakfast were a real highlight. Enjoying the meals while looking out at the mountains felt very special. The ingredients were fresh, local, and nourishing, with simple seasoning that brings out their natural flavors. Everything was beautifully presented in a delicate, very Japanese style. It honestly felt like a dream.
All the appetizers were delicious, and the local mountain vegetables were especially wonderful. The grilled char (iwana) and the Shinshu premium beef cooked on a magnolia leaf were outstanding—definitely not to be missed. Portions are generous, so I recommend coming hungry!
They are also very welcoming to international guests, as well as vegetarians and vegans. You can really feel that this place creates meaningful cultural exchange and helps people appreciate Japan even more. The world map in the lobby shows how many guests come from all over the world, and reading their messages of gratitude felt very real.
We had one vegetarian in our group, and they accommodated them kindly without any hesitation. In our past experience, many places in Japan simply say “no” to vegetarians, sometimes even ending the call, so we were truly impressed and grateful for their warmth.
In every way, the hospitality here was exceptional.
The nature nearby is also beautiful. Kaminari Falls, just a short drive away, is very special—you can actually walk behind the waterfall. It felt like a real power spot, and I highly recommend visiting if you stay here.
Overall, it was an amazing trip and stay. I have never experienced such a high level of hospitality before. There are many more wonderful things I could mention, but it would be too long to write everything.
We will definitely come back again when we visit Nagano.
