I met three staff during my stay, Maggie, Kelly and Ian - the really are lovely people. Despite a busy shift they still made time to make me feel welcome. We had wonderful discussions on the historic hotel which has history going back hundreds of years, from the Jacobite Rebellion to an American President and even the Queen of England! The original marble and woodwork are visible throughout the building. A historic masterpiece. I absolutely intend to come back! Thanks all!

Ideal location and reasonable rooms which were a bit tired. Biggest problem was the lift wasn’t working and had to climb six flights of stairs.

It would have received more stars for maintenance however the lift was unserviceable therefore I couldn’t give higher marks. Everything else was excellent

Free electric car charging was an unexpected bonus.

Lovely hotel. Fabulous central location with good facilities and friendly staff. Get there early if you want a parking space, but there's pay and display nearby if you miss out.

Excellent location right in the centre of Carlisle, and with albeit limited parking being a real bonus. Slightly tired room, but with evidence of past grandeur it felt like quality. Very good breakfast and very helpful front desk staff made our overnight stay an excellent choice. Will definitely come again if circumstances allow.

Lovely traditional style hotel with modern style rooms. Walking distance to shops, bars, restaurants. Buffet breakfast great value for money & plenty of choice. Friendly, chatty staff. 2 mins walk from Cathderal & 5 mins Carlisle Castle

Reception staff were very helpful with everything including the parking which was limited. For an old Hotel the room etc was very good. Unfortunately the lift was out of order but these things happen so not a big problem. We had drinks in the bar and ate there the first night. On both nights in the bar we unfortunately did find one of the female staff members not at all happy to see us and it felt like she just didn't want to be there. Wasn't comfortable!

Always a pleasant stay at the Crown and Mitre. The club rooms and the front of the hotel are super comfy. If their car park is full there is one very close by (yellow sign) £6 overnight (by coins or app). Never had any issues.

We stayed one night on the way to Scotland. A nice clean environment and a cosy spacious room. It was right next to the Cathedral so we managed to see this on arrival. Would use this hotel again.

Beautiful old hotel in the centre of Carlisle, very close to the Cathedral, which is a must see. We had a room in the annex which was comfortable but the acoustic separation was not very good.

Good breakfast was included in price.

Loved the pool and hot tub. The hotel is walking distance from everything.

Parking was easy & we didn’t use the car again during our stay. The hotel is great for exploring the city. We would recommend it for a short stay in the city.

No advanced notice that lift wasn't working. No ideal with 2 guest with mobility issues and 3 flights of stairs yo rooms. Also found it odd that there's no secondary glazing for noise in room but yet there was in restataunt. Breakfast was average but bacon hard and overcookec under heat lights. Didn't have the best of choices. All in all very average stay
