Key card didn’t work in the outside door but someone heard knocking and opened the door

Warm friendly staff. Very generous food portions!

Really helpful and friendly staff, the evening meal was delicious as was the breakfast. The room was clean and quiet. The only slight negative for me was the real ale, one pint was enough, I had to go onto the lager unfortunately! Having said that I would stay again. Easy, no hassle, friendly and good people.

Just returned home from a 2 night break at the Old Mill with my wife and we had a fantastic time. Easy check in by helpful staff. Room clean and tidy with tea and coffee making facilities and great shower. Excellent bar meals (home make steak and kidney pudding was a personal favourite). Drinks reasonably priced (£12.60 for a pint and large wine). Lovely breakfasts, I had full English both days and my wife with a smaller appetite asked for smaller breakfasts selecting what she specifically wanted and that was accommodated without any issue at all. The Old Mill is ideally located for an easy 15mins drive into Durham. I would have no hesitation recommending a stay there.

Great location for visiting Durham and surrounding areas. Room clean and comfortable. Excellent ‘free’ breakfast. We enjoyed a meal in the evening which was good value for money and large portions. Can recommend.

Bedroom comfortable with a generous offering of tea, coffee, etc on the tray. Staff pleasant and efficient. A fair selection of food, in the evening. Breakfast excellent. My room was near a big road with noise all night. Triple glazing needed. Strange smell in bathrooom overnight.

Overnight stop from Scotland to England Staff very friendly and efficient. Food menu very good. As it was a Sunday, my wife chose the beef sunday lunch and they catered for her gluten and dairy intolerance, and did the same for the excellent breakfast. I chose off the specials board. They also had a good dessert menu, and again, had an option out of the freeezer for my wife. Room was modern with a good modern shower. Will definitely stay here again on our next trip up North.

Hotel is very clean and most of the staff are very friendly, especially the young blonde girl with glasses and always in a black blouse. Meals are very large, if not a big eater ask if they do smaller portions. Ideal location for exploring the North East. Only downside I had was other quests not considerate of others late at night letting their doors slam shut.

Comfy room, generous towels. Arrived late Friday evening, no bother getting a table in the pub downstairs for food- they don't take table reservations, so I wasn't at a disadvantage. Good wide choice on the menu and attentive service. There was a nightwatchman for after hours- what a treasure! He showed me how to access once the pub was closed, helped me empty the bags from the car and carried them to our room all with a friendly, nothing was too much trouble approach. A real asset to the Old Mill.

Staff are always lovely and food is amazing! I stay here for work as often as possible. Rooms are basic but very clean and pleasant and reasonably priced. Only negative is that the bar closes at 9pm and there are no shops locally that ive found in walking distance which is not the fault of the hotel but a little inconvenient if you forget something or want a cold drink before bed

The rooms where spotless and the bed was very comfortale. The staff were very friendly. Food was very good and good portions. Defenitely going to book again in the near future.
