Really friendly and helpful staff. Room clean and well presented. Lovely bed linen and good choice of hot drinks in room. Breakfast very good and lots of options. Third visit!

Zero communication between Victorian House and Expedia, they had no idea I'd booked a TWIN ROOM despite it clearly being the case on the Expedia reservation. I actually would surmise that Victorian House staff just don't look at the reservation details from Expedia? I had walked 15 miles that day and was blamed for not having contacted Victorian House and requesting a twin room (newsflash: I don't need to do that, it says on my booking that I have a twin room reserved). I didn't really like that and was very insulted, having done nothing wrong. Despite Victorian House being entirely at fault, the receptionist even went so far as to say that she "didn't like" my "attitude" - how about apologising for your error and just getting me a twin room? The immediate hostility from hotel staff really put a dampener on my stay - do you think I enjoy arguing with hotel staff after a 15-mile walk? Avoid this place.

We usually stay at the Bridge Inn but needed to be near family in an arbnb. The room was lovely, comfy bed next time I would request a room at the back of the hotel as we needed the window open in this heat and the traffic, although not heavy did disturb us. The breakfast was fabulous, quality ingredients. We sat in the lovely conservatory. The hotel is perfectly situated for the village. Will definitely stay again.

We really enjoyed our stay!

Lovely place with good facilities, older property so our room was spacious, bed comfortable and good bathroom. A little noisy for the dog as we were on the ground floor next to reception. Limited parking outside the property but able to park across the road overnight until 10:00 am. Overall lovely stay.

A lovely stay at Victorian House. Clean and comfortable room. The bed and pillows were so comfortable - real quality. The staff were very friendly and its a nice touch to have free cake at reception. I really enjoyed my stay.

Lovely place to stay and in a very good location. It has a lovely aesthetic and there was drinks and cake for guests waiting. I would leave a note for guests arriving early that they can leave their cars in the car park before check in as my partner kept going back to check with someone (anxiety) and there wasn't anyone around to ask. We stayed in the stargazer room which was quite small but cozy. My biggest issue with the room was the bed is noted as king size but it seemed like a double at most to me which meant I slept badly as I need room to due circulation/nerve issues in my arms. The view from the room was glorious, we stayed in the room in the evening and read while looking at the peaks. We couldn't see any stars due to clouds and I'm pretty sure there's a piece of the telescope missing, I may be wrong as I know nothing about them but there was no lens which I assume they need. The staff were nice and breakfast was lovely. Everyone was helpful and ensured we had everything we needed. They all seemed to want to make the guests happy.

What a fantastic place. We got such a friendly warm welcome, beautiful room, terrific breakfast. Central location is handy for going out for supper. My only niggle was that, because our room was on the ground floor, once breakfast service had started, we couldn't sleep due to noise of people and the radio.This was from about 7.30am.

Breakfast was delightful each morning! Also, our family appreciated the lovely sunroom, the helpful staff, the convenience to the village of Grasmere and countless footpaths, the treats put out each afternoon… we plan to return to the District and will stay at Victorian House!

A lovely room with a comfy bed and a very nice staff. You have to go elsewhere for dinner but breakfast was delicious. Recommend!

What lovely staff, so friendly. This is the best place i have stayed in yet on my Coast to Coast walk. Breakfast was amazing, apart from the usual full english (which loses its novelty after 5 days!) chose eggs benedict which was perfectly cooked and made a lovely change. Room was spacious and bed comfy. All together a great place to stay.
