We had a comfortable stay, food ok but nothing special, found the hour slot for breakfast 8.30-9.30am odd, most hotels have better times, especially when you are on holiday you don't want to be looking at your watch all the time, breakfast was buffet cereal, toast, yoghurt and juices, with a cooked breakfast to order, unfortunately a couple of mornings had to ask for bread, bowls, juice as not kept stocked up, only one member of staff serving breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful, bar was busy most evenings with locals. If you have difficulty walking then this hotel not for you, as up and down a steep hill and the hotel doesn't have a lift, doubt we would stay again.

We have been to Coniston before but this was our first stay at the Sun. It was fabulous! Pretty room, all the amenities we needed, spotlessly clean, breathtaking views. The staff were super friendly and efficient and the food was superb. We loved our stay and will definitely be back ❤️

Large, clean well appointed rooms with comfy beds and views over Coniston village. The Sun Inn is a friendly place, with great beer and welcoming people.

Fantastic Old Building that the staff are doing there best to maintain, but you can see some of the age here and there. But overall charming. Ran out of some key food items while we were there forcing us to eat out. Which was a mistake as some nearby restaurants were so good once samples there was no question of eating in house again. The main think was the staff overall was brilliant and the bar first class. Would stay again and highly recommend!

The Sun is in an amazing location overlooking the beautiful village of Coniston. It is also a stunning old building, full of character and charm. Tha staff cant do enough for you.

Perfect for a last minute overnight stay in the lakes. Picked as it was the ideal location to the walk we planned. Room was small, but was perfect for what we needed. Very clean, all the required facilities, and the staff were amazing. Breakfast was also delicious.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Beautiful location, room was lovely and the staff very attentive. We had a very comfortable night's sleep, and breakfast was high quality, hot, and beautifully presented.

This was basic but did the job. I found the lack of attention toward customer experience disappointing. There was no ambience/ background music at breakfast making it all quite awkward and very quiet. No effort was made to mop up the table and floor from the leaking conservatory roof at breakfast, making one of the tables and chairs for breakfast unusable, which I found surprising. The service was slow (magnified by the poor ambience) and when it did arrive my beans arrived cold and needed returning for heating. My shower temperature could not be regulated, but was constantly very hot as opposed to cold and so could be used dipping in and out. Cleanliness was poor, however I was expecting something more rough and ready from the pictures and so wasn’t surprised. A fantastic location and good pub evening environment and atmosphere.

The only criticism i have is too late for booking in and on a personal note i think 08:30 is a little late for breakfast. Beside that i found the place fantastic. Great accommodation and friendly staff and ideally situated for exploring the lake district.
