Very hot weather at the moment, room could do with A/C, but fan provided was adequate, room was really clean and modern, staff were helpful . Only moan was car parking, it isn’t owned by the pub, you have get a ticket or app the book your car in, but the most you can do is three and a half hours, so if staying from 1830 the car park is £1.70 until 05:00, but you cannot update on the app until your parking expires , very stressful, that needs to be looked at by MIpermits who work on behalf of the council

Hmm. The room was fine, and in a good location. The blinds aren’t great, though, and let in a lot of light. However, what has caused me to give it a poor score is, I’d been to a funeral the day before and was looking forward to a lie in before my long drive home. Imagine my annoyance, then, when the cleaner tried to get into my room at 7am and of course woke me up. The only thing I wanted was a good night’s sleep and The Ship failed me. I reckon Greene King should refund me.

Really great hotel room - modern, clean and comfy. TV is quite big! Only issue was the windows didn't open but a fan was included. But great for the price.

Was perfect for our 1 night stay as we attended the country music festival. Rooms were clean & quaint & the pub overall was a nice place to have a drink & relax with plenty of friendly locals.

Staff were very helpful. We were swapped to a better room without asking. Would recommend.

Terrible, staff were really awful, I asked for an iron they said they would bring this up, I chased them they said yes, then again and they said it is someone else's room but the manager will sort, then the manager said no iron was available and the staff member turned extremely aggressive, NEVER AGAIN

Initially was given a room which needed a guide to fined and required oxegen, so many steps up and down, the staff very quickly gave me a different room in a better location, but the TV could not be controlled and i was unable to watch TV. The room was cold till i was shown the control was outside the room door. One of the reasons I stayed at the ship previously was there is a carpark right next door, overnight parking till 8am next day. This has changed and it is now only till 5am so you have to leave at 5am or get up and go to move your car to another parking. For this reason I will never stay at the Ship again, I an going to Chelmsford again in a couple of weeks and have found a new location.

The staff were fantastic and showed me to my room and were happy to book a table for me and my friends that evening which was so helpful. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable however the room was very hot all throughout the night so I slept with the fan on. I assumed this was known as there was already a fan in my room so I was happy to sleep with it on but it was noisy, so pack earplugs! The coffee machine was a lovely touch and the room was perfect for what I needed. I would recommend and stay again happily.

Nice rooms at The Ship. 2mins walk to the train station, 5mins into town. Can hear the pub music but they turn it off promptly at closing. Shower was strong and beds are comfy. Staff are friendly and welcoming, easy to check in and check out. Would stay again.

Never stayed as they wouldn’t let me clove my dates. No debate; no alternatives. Nothing. No customer service

The bedroom was really nice and clean although the bed had been really creaky and the room was hot. The tv didn’t bar many channels. But the overall experience and room was good. People at the bar were very friendly and the staff were lovely. There was a good vibe and atmosphere.

Lovely old pub right next to Chelmsford rail and bus stations. Very welcoming bar staff. Rooms are really nicely decorated with tea and coffee making and separate secure access. Really great value and centrally located for all Chelmsford has to offer.

Room was poor. Staff couldn’t advise on parking. Got over charged by £10.

No hairdryer in the room. Shared Bathroom was upstairs. Bit of a maze. Staff friendly. Bed comfy.

Staff was courteous. Room was smaller than expected; a bit claustrophobic, but fine for one night.

Staff friendly, room clean, food/drinks great! Not handicapped fitted, lots of stairs. Separate toilet and shower area outside room.
