comfortable & attractive room & very friendly, helpful staff. We ate in restaurant & food was excellent. Dog friendly in all areas with small extra charge. As a resident you can get access the water fall walk before general opening time and we had it to ourselves. You also get entry to Raby Castle but we didn’t have time this visit. Would definitely stay again.

Great hotel. The location is fantastic, the staff go above and beyond. A favourite spot for a getaway with opportunity to walk, visit High Force waterfall, have a drink in the cosy bar and dine in the elegant dining room. Breakfast was great - the food is obviously local and fresh.

Really lovely hotel, beautifully decorated and very comfortable rooms and beds with a fantastic, powerful shower. Lots of lovely small touches like fresh milk and cookies in the room. We were on the front facing the road and it was very quiet at night even with the window open, no road noise at all. Very good breakfast and we also had supper there which was delicious, I would go back just to eat there. Staff were incredibly friendly, warm and welcoming. Free entry to Raby Castle and High Force waterfall were included, we went to both and they are so worth a visit. Overall a brilliant stay, would absolutely go back, it was a real treat to stay at the hotel and fantastic value.

Good welcome, good food, good whisky selection

There is a reason this is a three star hotel. Despite some pleasant room decor and very helpful staff there are many things that let it down. Exterior is shoddy, rooms look over a busy road or a busy courtyard- both are noisy when windows are open in warm weather. Menu disappointing and limited - there was literally nothing that enticed me. There was also a lack of choice for vegan or even veggie options. Hoovering the bar and restaurant at 7:40am was so loud in our first floor room it may as well have been in our room - easily avoided and really annoying when you have come away to relax and get a much needed lie in. The garden which could and should have been a delightful asset was overgrown and depressing. This hotel is clearly trying to punch above its weight but it just isn’t quite getting there - in my opinion. That said the staff were great and the bed very comfortable both of which do go a long way to an enjoyable stay.

Our welcome to high force was great and staff were amazing. We came back to the hotel after a walk to low force, just after the service for food had ended, but it was no trouble to staff to offer to make a bowl of chips for us as the fryers were still on. We did find the bed slightly uncomfortable and under bed may need to be cleaned but other than that it was great. To have high force tickets and raby castle tickets included was also an added bonus. The breakfast in the morning was lovely with plenty of choice. We did find a swarm of wasps out the front of the property when we were eating breakfast and heard other guests mentioning the same. We would love to come back to the property and would recommend as such a lovely special place to stay. Thank you.

Lovely stay in great location! Food was excellent.

Breakfast and our evening meal were very good, service pretty quick. Our dog was allowed in all areas if I remember correctly. There was not much parking directly outside and it seemed that visitors for High Force used it so that they didn't have to pay for parking! I believe the receptionist said we could use the paid parking if we gave our Car Reg.

A friendly welcome by George & his staff at The High Force Hotel. Our room was small but comfortable (room 7) with an excellent shower & the mattress / bedding were superb. Breakfast was a feast with a huge range of foods to choose from. Added bonus was the free access tickets to both High Force Waterfall & Raby Castle which were both delightful & well worth visiting. With free car parking to boot, my husband & I would definitely recommend a stay here to family & friends. Thank you.

Beautiful room and very dog friendly excellent hospitality from George and staff, food was great breakfast cooked to order and high quality. Look forward to returning in the future

Room had cobwebs hanging from it and the headboard was filthy. The room also didn't have a main light. The tea and coffee maker was behind a door with a hairdryer and mirror but wouldn't stay open in order to use anything. The bar was far to expensive.

The staff, food, accommodation plus the attention to detail was magnificent

Hotel was located in a beautiful setting. There was ample free parking. Good choice of breakfast items. We also ate in the restaurant both evenings. The food was delicious. The bar area was cosy. Room was spacious with everything we required. We had to turn the radiators off though as room was far to hot for me. Not a bad point just personal preference, it was great to have the choice of hot or cold room though. We had a dog friendly room and thought it was great my dog could accompany me in the dining room, which was spacious.
