I like the antique nature of the property and the space at the French house.

A lovely place, with lovely staff. We were upgraded to the Master Suite, as most of the time we were the only people in the French House. We managed to do some interesting rambles around the island, helped by the hotel's shuttle. It was eay to shop in Port Elizabeth, and we self-catered throughout using the French House kitchen ( except for the breakfasts provided, which we delicious.) So it did not matter that the restaurant was closed. We'd certainly gladly go again.

It is easy to overlook the down sides of this hotel for three reasons; 1) the service is quite good, 2) the setting (i. e. the views) and 3) the food is quite good,.... but we shouldn't. As with most things in Bequia the hotel is expensive, easily within the 5 star range and yet it is old, poorly maintained and incredibly badly furnished, the beach is average at best, don't expect hot water and it is very isolated. In short, not worth the money.

When we arrived in Bequia, the taxi organised by the hotel was there to meet us. Nice drive to hotel. Lovely personal greeting (they had asked for our first names in advance) and welcoming rum punch. Then we were driven up the hill to the French House and what a spectacular view we had from the large balcony there. Our room was at the front, beautifully comfortable big bed and cooled by the constant breeze. Much care had been taken to provide everything we needed, including snorkels and masks! Breakfast was served on the balcony and whenever we wanted, a driver us would take us down the hill to the beach house (actually a lovely walk). We loved everything about the Sugar Reef set up, wished we could have stayed much longer and plan to return as soon as possible.

The French House is a spacious airy old plantation style house set high on the hillside overlooking Crescent Beach and beyond. It is quiet and comfortable and surrounded by trees. A unique experience. Breakfast is served at the house but lunch and dinner are at the Sugar Reef Cafe and Restaurant. The food and drinks served there are of a consistently high standard . The bay offers safe and easy access for swimming. The staff without exception are friendly, helpful and very welcoming. We will most definitely make a return visit.

This is a beautiful hotel located on the windward side of the island with rooms down on an idyllic beach and a french plantation house up on the hill. We stayed in the French House and all I can say is WOW! It is a step back in time when you stay here with a well appointed room overlooking the bay below with a constant breeze to keep you cool. The house is surrounded with a beautiful patio to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine at night. The staff are warm and friendly and take good care of you. They have a person to take you from the French House to the beach and vice versa. Don't skip the restaurant, the food and beverage are excellent.

Totally fantastic staff, food was great. We went for relaxation and this hotel exceeded that. Packed us a picnic basket with wine for our boating excursion. We came home very fulfilled of such a great retreat of our first time to Bequia and the Caribbean. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

The hotel contacted me from the time I made the booking to find out what they could put in place prior to my arrival, their efficiency and kindness carried through in my time there. I stayed in the French house master suite which was beautiful colonial style sugar plantation and the views were spectacular. Would definitely stay there again.

My wife and I enjoyed 2 nights at this lovely resort situated on a beautiful bay on a secluded side of Bequia! We were greeted by name and treated like royalty! Everything from the 4 poster bed to the beachside room with the lapping of the waves at night to the welcome rum punch to the picture perfect meals served in the great room only steps from the ocean, we loved it. Thank you Sugar Reef staff for making this a most memorable stay!

We loved this quaint boutique style hotel. The French House on Sugar Reef Estate is a refurbished plantation style house. It's lovely, the views are amazing. Breakfast served on a spacious covered terrace with an amazing sea view was delicious. The lunches and dinners served at The main Beach House (which is right on the beach) were outstanding and the service was great. Staff were friendly and helpful. It was a perfect getaway for us.

Although the breeze is lovely up at the French House there is a lot of wildlife up there especially in the Mistress Cottage so would recommend push the budget and get beach room (which are screened). Food at the hotel was superb - really delicious. Only suggestion would be to add a special of the day. The stand out thing about the hotel was the service - Judit & Tatiana were always on hand to help us with taxi and trip bookings - they made everything so easy including booking us a taxi in St Vincent which we had forgotten to ask for. They really made the trip easy and provided the very highest level of service i have ever had in a hotel

Very nice hotel, we've been upgraded to a room sea shore room. View was amazing. Amazing welcome from the hotel. Food is great. Only bad point, maybe more privacy in the beach out of the room and situtation is not ideal, you need a taxi or a walk (~45 mins) to go to the main activities of the island. Turtle sanctuary is nearby. Very good place if you want to share your trip between both side of Bequia

If you like something a bit different and a blast from the past this is the place to stay. Quite and relaxing with beautiful views. There will be stairs to deal with but that is what made it so fun.

It is away from the hustle & bustle of Port Elizabeth where you can enjoy peace and quite. Read a book, sun bathe or take a cab to town and shop on the water front. The staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. This hotel was a former plantation and has remnants of the palm groves present when you look down from the guest house. The hotel has limited rooms so book well in advance and I would classify this more as a Bed & Breakfast as there are only 8 total rooms available. If you are into island living, then this is the place to go.

The perfect place to get away. Nothing but beauty and relaxation. Very little to do but relax in the sun, swim, watch the birds and feel very lucky to be here

We loved everything about this hotel and cant wait to return. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We were upgraded to the beach villas with a large bed covered with a mosquito net and a mini deck. The room had good ventilation from the wind and the waves were peaceful to fall asleep to. The food for both breakfast and dinner was very tasty, probably one of the best frittatas i have ever had.
