Not great unfortunately. Room definitely wasnt superior we should have been staying for 2 nights but only stayed for 1. Breakfast was tasteless and the plates were stone cold. However staff were amazing.

Clean towels, bed linen and bathroom but the hotel is being run on a shoestring. Tired and shabby, with stained carpets, bags of rubbish in the hallways, creaking floors and banging doors that make sleep difficult. Description on website inaccurate with no hair dryer in the room and the restaurant closed. Bar was minimally stocked with no ambiance. Breakfast was bread (frozen) presented in bags, tinned tomatoes and mushrooms, powdered eggs and undrinkable coffee. Staff scraping unfinished food into a bin at the table did not help the experience. While I understand that I did not pay a large amount for what was described as a superior room, I stay away a lot and there is a standard that you would expect all hotels to achieve. Would not stay here again

The staff could not have been more lovely and helpful. Parking is great, you can park literally outside the front door. There is a lift, so don't worry like i did. The seaview room was gorgeous.

Our dog was made very welcome and we were told where we could sit with him for breakfast. Room was small and basic. No mirror outside of the bathroom so blow drying my hair was very difficult after I sourced a drier from reception. The ceiling was creaking on and off all night very loudly as the people in the room above did god knows what as it was at 2 am and then at short intervals all through the night. There was gf bread for me at breakfast. The orange juice was squash and coffee dreadful. Bacon was thick and well cooked.

There is always a difficulty with noise at the Strathmore, this time there were people shouting and swearing right outside at 5 and 6am, it made a change from it happening inside the building but it is still so frustrating when I'm paying money to stay there and it gets spoiled by noisy individuals every time

Lovely location, friendly staff always happy to help. Room was warm, nice towels and clean sheets. The hotel is dated, worn out and requires a lot more TLC and repairs in the rooms. Superior rooms are probably a 2 star standard max. My first room had no end panel on the bt

You get what you pay for. Location of hotel is great. If you want cheap and cheerful, its ok. Room was chilly, and very basic. Tea and coffee, but no biscuits. Beds were springy, I had to ask for extra blankets, as the covers were thin and it was cold. Breakfast was £8, but croissants were individually packaged, so not fresh, and the milk had been standing out for hours and tasted soured. However, staff were great, all very helpful and friendly.

First impressions weren’t great as we passed the cracked hotel window and were met with a rather frosty welcome at reception. Upon checking I noted the carpets were dirty and heavily stained. This theme continued into our family room and the paintwork on the walls was stale and unpleasant The curtains were also stained and the window wouldn’t shut. The toilet was faulty and we had a view of a rusty old fire escape. It was freezing cold in the bar and dining area and there was a constant haze of what smelt like cannabis in there. We werent made aware this place was being used as a bail hostel, and we noticed many guests with electronic tags on! Breakfast was disgusting with a dreary plate of barely cooked scrambled egg and bacon. The photos on the website looked nothing like our room and we felt like we were cat fished with the booking. Needless to say we won’t be back.

The room was fine, but for a third time my stay was ruined by noise from the room above me / next to me. Banging, constantly walking on creaking floors, loud conversation until the small hours. I do wonder if these people actually live at the hotel and that they don't understand or care about anyone else staying there
