Cheap flights to Ampana (VPM)

Flights to Ampana, Indonesia

Ampana is a small, friendly and remarkably clean town – perhaps one of the cleanest town in all of Indonesia. With mountains backing it in the distance and clear waters running out from the pebbly beach to the Tomini Sea beyond, this is a relatively scenic spot, and there are a couple of beachfront bars and simple seafood restaurants to soak up the atmosphere in. Few travellers though come here to soak up the Ampana vibe though. Virtually all will be using it as either a transit point to or from the islands or, as a resupply point to get cash and chocolate before returning to the islands -- in both cases, Ampana does the job. Between Ampana and neighbouring Labuhan are a handful of places to stay covering most budgets. Ampana has plenty of places to eat along the main road through town, along with a couple of seaside bars/restaurants.

What are the Top 3 Things to Do in Ampana?

1. Ampana - The central area of it, is small and easily walkable. The only reason you’d need to use an ojek (or a horsecart) is to get to the alternative boat landing spot at Labuhan. There is a small ""Tourist Information Office"" on the pier at Ampana that can provide limited information on accommodation availability, along with boat timetable information and tips for ways to fill your slow time in Ampana. The main pier is the centre point of the town.

2. Lore Lindu National Park (Donggala) - This national park is located deep in Sulawesi hinterland, trapped among three valleys: Palolo, Bada, and Napu. Lore Lindu National Park is a protected area of forest on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, in the province of Central Sulawesi. It hosts numerous rare species including anoa (midget buffalo), babirusa (Babyrousa babyrussa), and more than 60 birds that endemic to Sulawesi and only exist in this region. If you trek across the valleys, there are dozens of Megalith statues scattered around. However please keep in mind that the jungle is still utilised by rebels as a hiding place. The national park is designated as part of the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves. In addition to its rich wildlife, the park also contains megaliths dating from before 1300 AD.

3. Morowali - It is one region that is massively under-explored, consists of a little fishing town called Kolonodale and vast pristine water of Tomori Bay. To explore this place can be somewhat costly because you have to arrange everything independently, especially the boat that might take some efforts. In this place, it is suggested that travellers take a look at the Tomori Bay that has pre-historic hand-prints all over cliffs, tranquil Nanaka island, uniquely shaped Batu Payung, the small palace of Mori Kingdom, and if you are really really lucky, you can meet the indigenous tribes called Wana people (Tau Taa Wana), but keep in mind that they will run away if they saw foreigners. But if you bring a local, they may act friendly.
