Ponggal Festival, Langkawi (15–18 January)
Ponggal is a harvest festival celebrated by Tamils. In the middle of January, a festival honoring the rice harvest is called Pongal or Ponggal, also known as Makara Sankranti. So, a harvest celebration is held to praise Surya, the Sun God, for a plentiful harvest. Hindu folks from India celebrate it. A concoction of sweet cooked rice known as "Pongal" is prepared and presented to the Sun God. The term comes from the Tamil word "pongu," which means to "boil over" or "flourish."
Balinese Arts Festival (June 18–Jul 16)
The Bali Arts and Culture Festival has begun. This month-long event showcases Balinese art and culture. The festival includes a procession of participants in traditional attire, carrying colorful offerings and demonstrating art and cultural practices from various regions of Bali.
Each district has unique attire and regionally specific performances, such as traditional dance and gamelan. The parade features dancers, musicians, and other artists, all reflecting Bali's diverse cultural heritage.
Bali Spirit Festival (May 4–May 7)
The Bali Spirit Festival is a six-day event held every April to celebrate Tumpek Wayang, the most significant day of the year for Balinese shadow puppet performers. The festival features wayang performances across the island; attendees of all ages are welcome to join.
