Nice well-appointed hotel just on the border of the Gion area. Great breakfast and quite nice sentó hot bath.

This is simply a wonderful hotel. From the outside it seems rather like a conventional hotel, but once inside you know you are in a special place--real, traditional Japan, away from crowds, lights, concrete, glass and steel, but in view of surrounding garden spaces open spaces, impeccable interior design with sacred corners and views that let you turn inside and simply relax--even when it's 100 degrees outdoors. The room was beautiful, minimalist, perfectly appointed with a super comfortable bed. I had a view of the interior garden, which I loved. I can't say enough about this wonderful hotel and when I return to Kyoto, this is where I'm staying! Stay there and be happy....

This is my second time staying at this property and as with the first time it was a pleasure. The property is beautiful, clean, the staff cordial and helpful. The rooms are big, clean and the hotel happy hour is always a good fun.

Hotel was absolutely beautiful. Very serene and lovely, was exactly what we were looking for on a vacation to Kyoto. Staff was super helpful, spoke English well. It was nice to return to the hotel after long, hot days of touring in the summer.

Nice hotel for the price. Service was great, the place smells amazing. They have the air diffusers going in every corner of the public spaces and it’s awesome. The restaurant and lounge could use a little sprucing up in terms of options offered, set up and flexibility but other than that, it was a super clean and nice place to stay in Kyoto, close walk to all the great areas and right by Gion/Geisha District and amazing temples just minutes away.

Perfect location in Kyoto, free walking tours on Wednesday and Friday, highly recommend. So many sights within a short walk. Amazing dining options too and a highlight was Sake Bumpy around the corner for the best sake tasting EVER.

The staff was polite but need to be more attentive to the questions from the guests. To be honest I was having trouble with getting my ticket changed and asked the concierge for help but they told me I have to handle it myself. This is frustrating as the Celestine is suppose to be a high end hotel recommended even from the chat got.

Service was extraordinary! Staff handled reservations for incredible restaurants. Plus, we took advantage of the free tour of Gion, the shuttle to the station and happy hour. Sheets, towels, bath and amenities were sumptuous.
