Malacca Zoo - Established in 1963, Malacca Zoo is managed by Department of Wildlife and National Parks of Malaysia. It was previously used as a wildlife rescue base and officially launched by then Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir bin Mohammad on 13 August 1987. This zoo acted as a rescue base and an animal sanctuary and was the first zoo in Malaysia to exhibit the critically endangered Sumatran rhinoceros. Besides that, it houses many birds, amphibians, white rhinoceros, Asian elephants, red panda, Malaysian gaur,the squirrel monkey and many more. One of the highlights of the zoo is the Malayan tiger (Panthera Tigris Malayenis) and the zoo had raised over 40 tiger cubs and sent them to various types of places such as the United States. Visitors can use a tram facility to get from one place to another with the ticket prices as low as RM 2.00 and enjoy the healthy and green environment.
