Ampang Jaya, more commonly known as just Ampang is a town, a mukim and a parliamentary constituency in Hulu Langat District and parts of Gombak District, Selangor. Ampang is lies to the east of the Kuala Lumpur City Center and Golden Triangle. It is largely residential but is also home to many foreign diplomatic missions to Malaysia. It is administered by the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ). The name "Ampang" means "dam" and the place was named in reference to the miners' dams. A road was built to connect Ampang to Kuala Lumpur which formed the Jalan Ampang of today.
You can take flight from any other airport to reach Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA 1&2). From airport you can take taxi to Ampang. The distance from airport to Ampang is about 62 km and 55 minute drive from the airport.
Ampang is well served by federal highways, tolled highways, state routes and expressways. Jalan Ampang is the main road from downtown Kuala Lumpur until Taman Rimba Ampang. If you travel from South and North peninsular state you may use North-South Expressway to reach Ampang.
