Gelang Patah is an area located within the district of Johor Bahru, Johor. Within it, lies a breadth of beautiful rural landscapes, lush forests and beaches to its south. Sandwiched by the regions of Nusajaya and the Pulai River, the area is of particular importance due to the presence of the Second Link Expressway, as an alternative to that present at Tanjung Puteri, linking the neighbouring countries of Malaysia and Singapore. With further investments initiated by the Iskandar Region Development Authority from local and foreign sources, the town is thus expected to only grow in significance from time to time.
By road, Gelang Patah is accessible via the North-South Expressway while from Singapore, the area is accessible from the Second Causeway. For ease of travelling, public transports such as bus and taxis are available at Gelang Patah Sentral. Bus company, Causeway Link operates buses from the terminal to destinations such as Pontian, Kota Iskandar and CIQ 2nd link. By air, Gelang Patah can be reached from Senai International Airport. Flights by AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines and Malindo Air offer connection of the city from both local and international airports such as Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Guangzhou and Surabaya to mention a few.
Legoland Malaysia represents the first international theme park in Malaysia, the 6th of its series and the first of its brand in Asia. Opened for business since 15th September 2012, within it lies as many as 40 attractions, rides and shows. Highlights of the park include Miniland where famous attractions from around the world such as Angkor Wat, Taj Mahal and The Forbidden City are faithfully recreated in miniature scale as well as Water Park where visitors can enjoy their day amidst the slides and soakers. Even better, coming by November 2017, the theme park is expected to launch as its latest attraction, the world’s first Lego Virtual Reality rollercoaster, to further set it aside as a must go to destination around Gelang Patah.
Dubbed the Jewel of Nusajaya, Puteri Harbour was designed to provide a waterfront of quality, in line with developments around the surrounding area. Here, visitors will find scenic views of the marina amidst the series of architectural pieces scattered around. Within its 4 stories premises, there is a family theme park dedicated to beloved characters such as Thomas the Tank Engine, Barney and Bob the Builder. Of note is the Sanrio Hello Kitty Town, the first of its kind outside of Japan with activities such as live performances, souvenir decoration and even teacup rides on offer. For adults, there are plenty of restaurants around to try, boats to charter for water-based trips and for avid shoppers, a shuttle bus that takes you to the nearby Johor Premium Outlets shopping haven.
