I-City is a town that is developed urbanely in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia. Architect Jon A. Jerde planned the whole city. He has designed in a way that the city is a fully integrated intelligent city. At the same time, he also includes corporate, leisure and residential elements. Facilities such as shopping malls, offices, hotels and apartments are some of the facilities built in this city.
The city has been endorsed by the Ministry of Tourism as a tourism destination. Moreover, the Selangor State Government has declared this city as International Park. This gives them license to operate the venue for 24 hours 7 days a week.
From Kuala Lumpur, visitors may take the Federal Highway and head towards Shah Alam. Then visitors may take the exit toward I-City / Padang Jawa. From there, there will be more signboards to take visitors to I-City. The distance is only 29 kilometres and will take around 27 minutes to drive there. This is, however, depends on the traffic.
From Kuala Lumpur, visitors may take the RapidKL buses to Shah Alam. The bus is numbered U80. However, they do need to switch to bus number U605. This bus will take its passengers directly to i-City. The fare is less than RM5 per person per way. The bus makes the trip every 15 minutes and 20 minutes during non-peak hours. Visitors also may use Touch and Go to ride the bus to lessen the hassle during boarding the bus.
From any KTM Station, visitors may buy their ticket to head to Padang Jawa Station. Padang Jawa is in Shah Alam. However, this is the furthest station in Shah Alam. The fare is around RM5 for one way. However, the distance from this station to i-City is still quite a distant. Therefore visitors may take a taxi to i-City. They may also opt for Uber to head there. It will take another RM5 – RM7 to reach the city.
This attraction uses more than a million LED lights to create a forest of maple and pine trees. At night, it will illuminate the whole area making the place light up with multiple colours. At Mist Fountain there is a foggy mist which will make the lights blur, a different way to appreciate the lights.
This museum is based on the ancient art of Trompe L’oeil. There are optical illusions that are created to make the visitors see art in a different way. It is very interactive for those who visit.
This is an indoor area that is set to be below 5 degrees Celsius. There are plenty of ice sculptures sculptured by artists from Harbin, China. There are also activities such as snowman making, ice sliding and interactive ice sculpture for pictures.
