Kuala Ibai is a seaport and suburb of Kuala Terengganu. There is the first floating mosque in Malaysia and some of the floating mosques have followed the features of the mosque in Penang and Melaka. How to Get There

By Plane

There are flights that fly daily from both Subang airport and KLIA2 which take around 55 minute to an hour to reach Sultan Mahmud Airport. From there, you can take a ride to Kuala Ibai town via Tengku Ampuan Intan Zaharah road.

By Car

From Kuala Lumpur city centre, you can drive to Kuala Ibai for 4 hours and 30 minutes by using E8 to Kota Bharu-Kuala Terengganu road. Alternatively, it takes a longer time using Segamat- Kuantan or Kuala Lumpur – Gua Musang highway which takes more than 6 hours ride.

Rantau Abang

Rantau Abang is a small village, which used to be known for its Leatherback Sea Turtle nesting. It is located 22 kilometres north of Kuala Dungun and 80 kilometres south of Kuala Terengganu. Every year during the months of May to August, the turtles would come ashore and lay their eggs. However, the number of sea turtles that lay their eggs has severely decreased in recent years. The Turtle and Marine Ecosystem Centre has been set up in Rantau Abang to act as conservation reserve for these turtles. On a different note, most part of the beaches is safe for swimming although some are restricted by the Fisheries Department for turtle conservation purposes. The beach is open for all kind of beach activities such as beach volleyball, picnic, kite flying and camping.
