Raub, is one of the oldest towns in the State of Pahang and has become famous in the early 20th century for its mining resource (gold). The gold mining in Raub was operated by Raub Australian Gold Mine (RAGM), a company registered in 1889 in Queensland, Australia. It is a historic gold mining settlement and the town has slowly developed into rising town and residential areas. On the other hand, the population in Raub is composed of 50% Malay, 40% Chinese mostly descendants of the gold mining workforce and 6% Indians and most of them are living at the city and outskirts of Raub town.

How to Get There

By Car

Raub is located along Federal Route 8 which runs from Bentong to Kota Bharu, the capital of Kelantan state. From Kuala Lumpur, the best way to reach Raub is via the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway (Route E8) to Bentong, and then onto Route 8 at the expressway's Bentong East interchange. It takes around 1 hour and 45 minutes from Kuala Lumpur city centre to Raub town. From Kuantan, you can also reach Raub by using the East Coast Expressway (Route E8) to Lanchang interchange and then proceed along the Lanchang-Raub road.

Frasers Hill

Frasers Hill is a highland resort destination situated among the mountains of Pahang located about two hours away from Kuala Lumpur. Locally known as Bukit Fraser, this cooling holiday retreat is popular for its nature activities and cooling climate and Frasers Hill has its roots in the 1890s when Scottish prospector Louis James Fraser opened up a tin mine but mysteriously vanished in 1915. In 1917, the bishop of Singapore rediscovered Frasers Hill and one of Malaysia’s premier locations for bird-watching. There is home to over 250 species of birds and the Fraser’s Hill Development Corporation and the World Wildlife Fund both run classes and excursions to see the flora and wildlife of the hill station. The resort is situated around 104 kilometres from the national capital city Kuala Lumpur and at an altitude of only 800 metres is The Gap. You can reach Frasers Hill by using North-South highway for approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes.

Since its opening in 2013, it immediately becomes the best place to go for nature-lovers and extreme sports fans. There are coaches available to coach you on how to ride ATV and when you are confident enough, you can ride it out at the proper circuits. There are also activities such as drifting, mountain scaling and circuit jumping. There are a number of circuits for you to choose from that comes with different length and path so that you can choose the difficulty that suits you the most. They are circuit A (30 minutes), circuit B (60 minutes), circuit C & D & E (90 minutes). Before coming here, visitors are advisable to call and make booking first to reserve your spot and avoid hours of waiting.
