Too dirty
It`s a pity, because the place has a lot of potential and a lot of good features: good location (quiet local area with great cheap and tasty chinese, malay and indian restaurants, but also really close to Dutch Square, Jonkers...), really big room, new bathroom, really good price, shampoo and shower gel provided, ok-ish wifi... So could make for a great place to stay, but not (at least when we were there). Luckily we only booked 2 nights, and then we moved somewhere else... Why? Too dirty and not taken care of. And we are not poshy or picky people, we live in Asia and we have been backpacking a lot, and we don't ask for luxurious or really cute and cozy places but, at least, a place that is cleaned daily... And here doesn't look like anybody do that. The staircase from the street to the "lobby" was already dirty and with rubbish; the "reception area" is a few sofas on the way to the room with empty bottles and open bags of chips, the kind of reception table also on the way... But well, the estethics are not our main worry; the room is what is important. The room is huge, with a few big cupboards, but the feeling from the first moment we stepped was the opposite of good: the carpet in the floor was completely dirty, was obvious that nobody had swept it or vacuum cleaned it for days. In the bathroom there was an empty bottle of shower gel, an empty roll of toilet paper and pee all around the toilet... And the bed didn't look nice...hairs here and there, a dusty blanket and crumpled bed sheets... The guy at reception assured us that the bed sheets were clean; we believed him, but If it was clean, why not setting it nicely? Why if you have a place that nice and that could make for a great place to stay, you don't take care of that small easy things that would change the experience completely? How long it takes to vacuum clean a room? and the staircase and common areas? And to clean the toilet and change the shower gel and toilet paper?

Cheap and Easy
Close to all main attractions (5/10 min walk) loads of places to eat close by too. Quiet, clean and hot showers. Internet ut out a few times but not a big issue. Great comfy stay. Staff are helpful but very limited English. Alex is very helpful.

Helpful owners
First I got there in a sort of staff reorganisation, so I end up to be by myself a lot alone in the building. Really friendly people and helpful here, I even got a morning ride to the bus station. Room was small but clean, good AC and good WiFi, all have bathroom outside, Everything is close by: restaurants, the square, the Jonker street, the river, shopping mall, All.. Tip: book in advance, so you will be expected. For a good rate changing money: shopping mall, for a good price taxi: "GRAB" or "UBER". There is no meter taxi in Melaka but mostly flat rate of 20 Ringets

Nice little hostel
Nice hostel walking distance to old city, close to cheap restaurants, and little india. Nice deco in the main area and each room. I chose a room with no window because it was more quiet than facing the street, and it was perfect, comfy, a/c so not hot. Good price to hAve own room close to the city for 1 night. Tip: I would suggest at least 1 night in the city, it's so Cute!

friendly and brand new
I spent 12 days at this new guest house, so I had a good chance to check it out. The owners are very very friendly and helpful. Rooms and beds are brand new and are very comfy. Location is also ok, in a typical neigbourhood away from crowdy Jonker Street. Close to typical and popular restaurants like Madras Cafe (try their roti canai). The street is a bit noisy (traffic) but rooms are on the far end of the building.
