Located in Selangor, the Sabak Bernam is a parliamentary constituency and a district. It has a large area of 1,056 square kilometres. In 2010, the population of it increased to more than 100,000 people. It is neighboured by Perak to the north, the district of Hulu Selangor to the east, the district of Kuala Selangor to the south and the long Straits of Malacca to the west. Famous with rice growing area, Sabak Bernam’s main economic area is definitely agriculture. Not only that, it is also famous with cheap and fresh seafood. Hence, Sabak Bernam is worth to visit.

How to Get There

To get to the destination, you can choose to drive along North South Highway in approximately two hours if you are coming from Kuala Lumpur. If you wish to travel in public transportation, you can take a bus with approximately RM70 per journey (if you’re coming from Kuala Lumpur). You can also take a private taxi to reach to the destination. Do not forget to enjoy the view along the journey!

Sungai Karang Forest Reserve Hornbill Observatory Centre

Have you gone birding before? If no, then this is the right place for you to go with your family or friends. With the good combination of nearby forest reserve, mangroves, sea, waterways and agricultural land, this place attracts various bird species that you have never seen before. Seeing magnificent birds like parakeet, kingfishers, egrets, owls and kites will positively blow your mind away! Its main attraction that is the hornbills can be seen here. The most seen hornbills are Rhinoceros Hornbill, Black Hornbill, and the Oriental Hornbill. It opens daily from 8 in the morning. Bagan Nakhoda Omar

Need a place that is relaxing and calming to go to while you are in Sabak Bernam? Head on to Bagan Nakhoda Omar which is also known as BNO. Fringed with shady trees, this destination is a great choice for bonding. Locals and tourists usually come here to fish fresh seafood, fly kites with their children and taste the savoury and famous Mee Udang (prawn noodles). Drenched in thick flavoursome gravy with freshly caught big prawns, it is impossible for you to say no to Mee Udang. Experience riding a small boat with your loved ones along the river while enjoying the view of fireflies twinkling just like the stars. It opens every day from 7.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m..
