Tanjung Sepat is a beautiful place that enables the visitors to have a wonderful memory with family or friends. It is a fishing village in Kuala Langat district in Selangor, which is 45 kilometers from Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. Tanjung Sepat is situated along the Straits of Malacca in the west coast of peninsular Malaysia. In 1970s, Tanjung Sepat is primarily a town that mainly relies on fishing industry. Most of the residents in Tanjung Sepat have some kind of link to the fishing industry although the particular essential of fishing to the economy is deteriorating due to the pollution in the Straits of Malacca. When the industrial technology improved in 1980s, the residents in Tanjung Sepat had the opportunity to venture into alternative economic activities. They gradually changed their main source of income from fishing related industries to agricultural industries such as pig farming, fruit plantations and so on.

Tanjung Sepat is located at the south west of the State of Selangor in the district of Kuala Langat. Most of the residents consist of Malay, Chinese,Indians and Orang Asli (natives) have some kind of connection to the fishing industry. Tanjung Sepat is a small coastal town near Sepang Gold Coast and offers day trippers a choice of food and sightseeing. This Chinese fishing community is also located with other neighboring towns are Morib and Bagan Lalang. Tanjung Sepat is well known locally for its many seafood restaurants. This dainty village, famous for its fresh seafood and picturesque scenery is a favourite family getaway hotspot. The most famous dish is the seafood steamboat. Buns or pau are also well known in Tanjung Sepat. . The residents here are involved in various economic activities which encompass mushroom cultivation farms, pig farms, fish ball producing factories, selling goods in market, coffee making industry and a relatively new industry that is bird nest harvesting. With its strategic location by the seaside, Tanjung Sepat has prominent prospects in developing as a tourist hot spot and garner entrepreneur.

Chinese language is widely used in this area since most of the resident here is a Chinese community. However malay language and English is also spoken in majority parts of this area.

How to Get There

By Plane

For visitor outside Kuala Lumpur you may board flight to Kuala Lumpur International Airport to reach Tanjung Sepat. From airport you can take taxi to reach Tanjung Sepat where it takes 51 minutes’ drive away. If you travel from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport Subang the distance to Tanjung Sepat is about 85.7km and one hour and 24 minutes driving.

By Car

The best way to come here is by driving. If you are coming from Kuala Lumpur, you can use KESAS highway and exit to Banting Road. From here, you will pass the town of Teluk Panglima Garang, Jenjarom, Telok Datok, Banting, Morib before reaching this fishing village. You will have to turn right to go into the town centre. Give yourself an hour and a half to come here as it is about 90 km from Kuala Lumpur.

By Train

You can go to Tanjung Sepat by train from KL Sentral to Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) . From airport you may take taxi to reach Tanjung Sepat. It takes approximately 48 minutes’ drive to Tanjung Sepat.

Getting around in Tanjung Sepat is easy as there are taxi and car rental here. You may rent a car or van or take taxi to go around tourist spots in this area.

This picturesque scenery fishing village Tanjung Sepat has offer a numerous tourist destination for tourist to get wonderful experience during their stay here. The most famous iconic landmark of this fishing village is a Lover’s Bridge. The iconic spot gets its name because local couples spend their evenings dating at the harbour while admiring the sunset. This Lover’s bridge is a long bridge leading to the sea. The most scenic sight is not only the bridge but the foliage, sea creatures, mangrove swamps at the waterfront. You can see the souvenir shop before the bridge and the restaurants.

You may get the fresh seafood and fish at Tanjung Sepat Wet Market. Tanjung Sepat Wet Market is the famous place to buy a fresh fish and seafood where the price is slightly cheaper. Besides that Kuan Wellness Ecopark is a must visit destination in Tanjung Sepat. It is established with ecotourism as its primary mission and objective. It is surrounded by palm oil plantations and tropical farms.

Mushroom Cultivation Farm Ganofarm is an enterprise which cultivates, develops and grows various species of mushrooms to cater to the public at reasonable prices. If you never see a dragon fruit or the plant before, you can come to Dragon Fruit Farm which is called Multi Rich Pitaya to experience it. They sell fresh dragon fruit, dragon fruit probiotics drinks and dragon fruit ice cream. Apart of that you may visit other attractions area such as coffee factory, pau factory and fishball factory.

Most of the residents in Tanjung Sepat practice Taoism. Hence, there are many Taoism temples in this place. Tanjung Sepat community celebrates the huge celebration to honor the birthday of the Iron General Deity where the celebration is in early April every year. They celebrate with feasts and firecrackers, offerings and operas.

The most famous dish in Tanjung Sepat is the seafood steamboat. Tanjung Sepat is well known locally for its many seafood restaurants towards the coastal side of the village. One of them is called Ocean Seafood Restaurant which is located next to the well-known Lovers Bridge. Buns or pau are also well known in Tanjung Sepat. Many people visit Tanjung Sepat to buy buns during the holidays. The other delicious food that you may get here such as local coffee,umbra juice (kendondong fruit), fishballs,fried bean curd, seafood Maggie mee, seafood Bak Kut The, tapioca chips, longan fruit, preserved seafood product and fresh mushroom. A lot of locals from KL, PJ and even as far as Singapore tend to make their way here to experience the great food.

During night time you can enjoy fresh seafood with your family for dinner with a windy and nice view of Tanjung Sepat quiet beach. There are two famous restaurants you can dine here that is Lovers Bridge Restaurant and Ocean seafood. The restaurant offers visitor a tasty fresh seafood and fish with picturesque scenery of the beach. Apart of that Asam Batu Laut is also suggested for those who looking for halal Chinese seafood restaurant. For the shopping hunter they may enjoy night market to buy souvenirs, apparel and local delicacies.

Tanjung Sepat becomes a place for city residents to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. If you plan your holiday here you must go there early as possible as you can get crowded on weekends or school holiday. Don’t forget to bring camera to take picture of amazing sunset there. The best time to visit is during weekend and low tide season to enjoy view of mangrove swamp. Please note that most of the food serve here is not for Muslim because most of the food selling here is a non halal food.
