Good and not expensive
Big dormitory, clean enough, very friendly staff, nice terrace and bottom floor has "a hidden treasure" - just walk there at night or early morning in the dark :) A fridge, table & seats, toaster, boiled water - all you need for to be happy as a shiny backpacker :)

Beg bugs
Spent RM42 booking from Booking.com. When i was there, i found that the price is cheaper for walk in customer. The toilet was clean and balcony was good for chilling. However, out foots and hands were itchy and had red spots after a sleep.I think it's because of the woolen quilt? Wont choose this next time.

Self service hostel
Hostel is located in the middle of town, a short walk from old town. Train station and local bus station is in walking distance, 15-20 minutes walk from the hostel. Dorm was normal, clean and with AC and fans. Beds were a little bit squiky, especially if you stay in the upper bed. Only one toilet/shower might not be enough if the dorm is full, however no problem at my stay. There's also a toilet with shower downstairs. An outdoor balcony is attached to the dorm, where you can relax or smoke. Lockers are provided, but you have to store your luggage on the floor or under the bed. Downstairs is a communal area with a kitchen. Breakfast is self service, with toaster and water boiler. There's also a fridge with freezer. Breakfast is available all day, only toast, jam and some tea. Couldn't find coffee... WiFi was good. Staff was hardly present when I stayed there. One of the other guests let me in the front door. Just had to sit down and wait for check in, luckily someone showed up after only 5 minutes. Bikes for rent at the hostel. Dorm is facing the street, some noise from traffic at night. Bring your own towel. A couple of 7-11 shops in short distance from the hostel. Good value for the money.

Just so so~~
Difficult to find the place, no proper signboard. The place is not really clean and tidy, only one toilet upstairs and one toilet downstairs ("long walk") for 14 beds. Air conditioning not working good for that huge area. Boss always not around, only volunteers (there are just 2) with lack of instruction and direction to serve the guests. Only location is the best, just between old and new town.

Good but not the best
Friendly staff, very helpful. The a/c could've been switched on a little bit earlier in the evening and a little bit in the daytime as the heat of S.E.A will bake you up. Breakfast was really simple, bread and teabag or coffee. Jam and margarine were out when I was there I guess they forgot to top up. My overall experience was positive made possible by the cozy atmosphere.
