If you are traveling by air, nearest airport is the Penang International Airport (IATA: PEN, ICAO: WMKP), which is an international airport, located in Bayan Lepas, Penang. Next you can get to Tanjung Tokong by using RapidPenang bus, metered taxi or Grab. Alternatively, The North-South PLUS Highway is a modern toll road that runs from Perlis to Johor Bharu. The highway also connects Penang to major cities on the West side of Peninsular Malaysia. Travel by highway can take anywhere from 4-5 hours with toll charges in between. Once you reach Butterworth, which is the island’s main entry point from the mainland, you may take either the Penang Bridge or the ferry to cross over to the island, which still operates from Butterworth to Weld Quay and will transport your vehicle too at a small charge. Return trips from Penang via the bridge is free of charge. If you are traveling by bus, there are two main express bus stations in Penang, Penang Sentral (mainland) and Sungai Nibong Bus Terminal on Penang Island. The nearest bus station to Tanjung Tokong is Sungai Nibong Bus Terminal.
