Great location....Tiny Rooms
Over the years, I’ve heard wonderful things about Porto and now I see why. I chose the guesthouse called Homey in the medieval Ribeira (riverside) district. The rooms are tiny. We were given the top floor (no lift - pully system used to get luggage up stairs). The double bed was in a loft so this room would not be suitable for the elderly or unfit. Care is needed getting up and down the narrow ladder. We moved to the first floor and it was also tiny. No where to sit other than on the bed. Guesthouse offers continental breakfast and eggs for 7.50€ The Internet is ok. The area and location is wonderful with narrow cobbled streets that wind past merchants’ houses and riverside cafes, where locals and tourists dine on the specialties - freshly grilled octopus and sardines.

Great deal, lovely communal area, near bus station
We were skeptical of staying here after reading reviews online, but we needed somewhere cheap so went ahead with the booking! At 38RM/night with AC and breakfast it's a great deal! The Guesthouse is hard to find, the location on Google maps was wrong, as was the one on Agoda! It's located over the road from the long distance bus terminal, and if you read the address you'll be able to find your way. The Guesthouse offers a discount for long term stays (690RM for one month (I think!)) and from what we could gather a lot of the guests are staying here on a monthly basis. The rooms themselves are small, and the walls are thin, but the guesthouse does remain quiet and we had some good night's sleep here! Breakfast is similar to many in Malaysia - simple with toast and spread, but at the price it really is a bonus! There's also a common kitchen (didn't see any hobs, but there was a water dispenser for hot and cold water so you can easily make some noodles). Best of all, there is a huge and welcoming common Living Room with big sofas, tables and a TV. We were catching a night bus the night that we checked out and they let us sit in the common room all day with our bags (very much needed as I was ill!) Loads of food places around and walking distance to the bus station so you can get the local bus to explore Bintulu itself. Overall, a great place, and as the name suggests a homely one too!

adequate for an overnight stay
i stayed here on the basis of the price, for an overnight stay on my way to miri. the bnb is quite large, with many rooms crammed in the space. the rooms are tiny, but air conditioned and the beds comfortable. the wifi was quite slow and there was no where for privacy, as the bathrooms were communal and rooms too small to stay in.

The worst night I ever had!
For starters it is a quite cheap place, but that's about it! I had a terrible night here. I booked for three nights but ended up leaving the place super early in the morning after the first night. I didn't sleep at all that night, it feels like the walls are made out of cardboard and I heard my neighbours breathing or snoring the whole night, while bugs where crawling over me!!!! I changed my room three times! First I couldn't log my door, then I had a decent room (not as dirty as the others, including hair on the bed and bugs or ants) but then water started dripping out of the ceiling! No apologies or whatsoever from the people at the front desk, they were just annoyed that I wanted to change the room! All the rooms are tiny and dark, there was always a extra lamp but didn't work in all three rooms! A prison cell would be more comfortable! I am serious! Don't expect wifi to work and just simply don't go here! I rather sleep under a bridge next time!

Don't go here, I mean it
OK, the room (even double bed) is cheap at rm38,00 but that's the only thing positive to tell about it, because it's small (and I mean REALLY small), noisy, smelly, invested with small critters like flies and ants, has paper thin walls, and won't close properly. Did I mention it has no windows? The public, shared places however are nice: some long couches, TV, bars and tables outside, well endowed kitchen with plates, cups, utensils, water boilers at your disposal and a couple of decently clean toilets/shower rooms. The people from the guesthouse I spoke with there are nice and interested in a talk but then the reception: never had a more stupid and rude welcome than here. We have our passports nice and protected stowed in the backpack but he wouldn't even start talking to us before we presented a passport number to him. Only after that we could have a look at the room. No we are definitely not coming back to this place :'(
