The room is new and clean. Staffs are friendly. Lobby still under renovation and we need to use other entrance which is quite small and need to use elevator to reach reception. Overall I am satisfied with my stay and worth with the price.

Centrally located and excellent service.
We stayed here for 3 nights and loved every bit of our stay. We were travelling with a baby and hotel provided us with baby cot, high chair and even a baby grooming kit. This attention to detail was heartwarming. The staff is extremely courteous and friendly and I mean everyone from reception- housekeeping, room service and lobby staff. A special mention to Mr.Simon from the hotel in-house cafe, he took time to explain us the menu in detail and made good suggestions. The food is good but there is certainly room for improvement. The rooms are well appointed with all modern fixtures- iron, kettle, fridge, nice clean tub, shower bidet and all toiletries. They also provided us ice bucket to store BM. Overall, the hotel is very clean, conveniently located and outstanding service quality. Highly recommended!

Excellent Hotel in the heart of George Town
My wife and I recently stayed at Hotel Jen for 2 nights in November 2017. We arrived at around 3.30pm in the afternoon and were promptly served by Katherine, who provided excellent service and a very warm welcome. She took pains to locate a long forgotten Golden Circle membership in her computer system and even offered us a minor upgrade to a slightly larger room. This was certainly a pleasant gesture and a great start to our short Penang vacation! Hotel Jen is recently renovated and has taken on a retro-ish look with scenes of the surrounding George Town all across the lobby and the rooms. The lobby is bright and airy and even at the busiest of times, it never really appeared too crowded. We were given a King room on the 7th floor and while the views were nothing to shout about, the rooms was large, with a sofa bed, work desk, a large King bed, and a bathroom with a large shower cubicle. The rooms, as with the hotel, was recently refurbished and tastefully decorated in bright colours. With the rates that we obtained, and coupled with its location and 4-star status, the Hotel Jen is definitely value-for-money. Location-wise, Hotel Jen is a short 5 minute walk from the edge of George Town and there are numerous eateries all within a 5-10 minute walk. There are a couple of malls next door but we never managed to find the time to visit given that there are just so many things to eat/ do in Penang. We also understand that the hotel provides a complimentary shuttle to Batu Ferringhi if you book a seat in advance, but we didn't have a chance to do so on this trip. Hotel Jen is a fairly large business hotel so you won't get the old school charm that some of the other higher ranked hotels in Penang boast about but all in all, Hotel Jen is an excellent hotel in Penang for its price, quality and convenience.

5 star from ground floor up, 1 star basement parking garage
If you arrive at ground floor you will be wow by the modern and colorfully decorated lobby. However, if you go to basement carpark before climbing up to lobby (yes, climbing up, there is no elevator to basement), then you would second guess your decision to book a room there. It appears the remodeling effort from Trader to Jen only applies from ground up, not including basement. I am fine with old carpark, but not sewer stench. Everything else is 5 star: friendly & courteous front desk and concierge, comfortable bed & pillows, great room, good food from cafeteria. But 1 star basement carpark.

Horrendous Experience
I had a horrendous experience today at your all day dining. I had friends coming over from kl. Since we were in town and i heard about the newly refurbish jen hotel we decided to drop by and have coffee at your hotel. As my friends saw the decor was quite refreshing they started taking some photos. It was all good till we went inside your all day dining whereby one of your Malay staff, didn't take down his name, rudely stopped my friend and started questioning her. He was hollering at her and asking who we were. (Didnt know we had to be some VIP to take photos). At this point I was quite shocked but I still answered him that we are simply visiting. But he seemed unsatisfied and kept pressing on the issue. Honestly at this digital age i still can't comprehend how taking simple photos is such a big offense. As far i know this is a hotel whereby it's open to the public and we are paying customers. He was shouting at us that we needed approval to take photos? He keep imposing that we need to go to the front office and get permission to take photos. It came to a point that we had to pacify him as to not make a scene. From a service industry this is totally ridiculous.

Very pleasant stay
Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is newly renovated (I was there early October and the hotel lobby was still under construction). The room is very new and clean and space is adequate. It was a pity that the rubber of the water tube leading to the shower tube was already peeled off given it’s newly renovated. The only disappointment was the line up for check in was a bit slow, not sure if it’s related to the temporary lobby with fewer staff (2 counters opened and we waited for 15min). The location of the hotel is good for us as we got a car to get to most of the places that we wanted. Parking is complementary.
