An acceptable classic
I say that one of the bet things I liked about this hotel was that it was not centrally located. That is because I spent one night in a hotel that was centrally located, and even though I was 3 floors up from the ground floor it was so noisy I had a hard time sleeping (in spite of being in a much higher end hotel). There was still some music noise from the clubs across the street, but I found sleep much easier to come by here, and if I wanted to be back at the original hotel I only had a 10 minute walk in front of me- great trade off to me. Additionally, the city center is rat infested- I had no problems with critters (other than one little gecko) during my stay here. The hotel is close to the mini-bus station, with the regular bus station just a little farther towards the center. Do your research before you decide the mini-buses are a good idea. The long distance bus station, however, is no where near the hotel, so that is something else to keep in mind. I found taxi drivers completely unwilling to negotiate and they always charged at least double what they charge locals, but that is common in many aspects of Malaysian life, particularly sightseeing (difference of 2 to 1 is common, but I encountered as much as 2 ringit for locals to 40 ringit for tourists, for example). That isn't really a problem caused by the hotel, though. My room was clean, but one light was out (acceptable, the room probably would have been too bright with the second bulb) and the fan in the bathroom was broken. This is a classic building, you can see it standing in pictures from before the city was razed by the Japanese and then again by the Americans, so, yes, there is no elevator and the staff wasn't helpful with my bags. I had a corner room, though, and the corner rooms (X05 and X06) can see water, which was nice. I didn't try the breakfast, but I rarely ever eat in hotels even when they include meals- I would rather eat where the locals think the food is good, and that certainly wouldn't be this hotel. My biggest annoyance was the lack of hot water dispensers either in the room or at least one per floor, at this price in this area it should be a requirement. The electrical control (where you plug something in to enable electricity) was a physical switch, so a business card was able to keep my A/C on all day, important because the A/C wasn't good enough to cool the room to a tolerable temperature (24-25c) within even an hour of turning it on.

Not recommended.
I booked this place as a locatiion in the centre of town. It looked a little more rundown than the photos, and is not exactly seafront, but i wont lie, the view over the city, the ocean and lots of chinese looking old buildings was really nice. When we checked in, i asked if the table and chair setup in the lobby is where breakfast would be served, and they said that actually since the 1st of July they no longer serve complimentary breakfast.....mtake this into account when paying more for a room because you think breakfast is included. Then i got shown a sign on the desk stating this, and the lady at reception aggreed that because i had paid for a room with breakfast, we could have breakft in the morning, starting from 7. Not really surprising, next morning at 7.15 the lobby was empty, a different guy sat there, snd when we asked about breakfast, he pointed to the same same i was shown in checkin, and bluntly said "no breakfast". Great staff communication here... Not. Out room was on the 4th floor, which was a bit of a hike up the staircase with no offer of help. The room was really nice, bar the one giant cockroach which made me jump, the bathroom really clean and modern, but super stingy on the toilet paper. Air con good, and the saving grace of the place is that the wifi had a good connection. 85 ringgit was overpriced. Also there is a nightclub in the street below and even though we stayed on a sunday night the music was quite loud until about 2 am. If the staff were friendlier my review would probably be a lot nicer. Good customer service means a lot.

Best not stay here
A bit overpriced or what ou get we were expecting more for 85 ringgits. The room was not that clean and had a smell about it. There is No lift you have to lug heavy cases up three or flights of stairs. We stayed here because we thought it was close to the jetty and while it is close to the naval jetty if you want to go to the turtle islands you have a twenty minute walk ahead of you. I would recommend trying somewhere else. The breakfast was really average just some toast and boiled eggs

Average room but with good service
I stay 1 night half in here,2nd level room, no lift only stairs but they will help you carry your luggage to there, no worries. They friendly and smiling face service. Air con cold enug, room spacious, water heater acceptable, breakfast with 2 slice toasted bread,jam&butter,1 eggs and coffee/tea/milo either nescafe.. Near by bus station, have a bus 14-sepilok (to orang utan sanctuary-rm5 per trip), can ask details with their staff. last trip get in is 2pm, and bck to town 4pm. Around shops close early about 6pm, but have a superstore open till 10pm,Near Harbour, KFC and bank is around 5-10min only.

ok
We stayed in Hotel Seafront for one night. The location was good. Near te foodmarket and the sea .The hotelroom was average. The mattress was good, shower ok. There was a smell in the room (I think moist carpet or something). Including a simple breakfast. We payed 75 myr, so that's was a good price for what we got.
