This homestay is not good at all the owner of this homestay is temperamental, the room itself is not using ceramic floor (just using cement), AC is quite cold enough, TV channel really bad (one 1 channel), the bed on the 1st floor is really bad (using sofa to changed into bed, you can feel the sofa a little hard), the lighting in the room is really dim, toilet it self is too small, no table or any chair inside the room, the wastafel is too small). Additional, the homestay is really hard to find for people who never come to this homestay, the owner was not polite as well as his wife. The good thing is the water heater is good enough with high pressure water.

Location hard to find, no proper signage. room deco is nice, cleanliness is good, overall design is different from other hotels but those welcoming difference will appreciate. love the idea of sleeping upstairs. Just up to my taste and will definitely going back since the location is not a problem anymore, no meal for us that day so ignore my rating on meals

A local budget listing that fits into your budget!
This place was cozy and we get to have your own privacy as all rooms are attached with a bathroom. So you can spend your lovely time with your friends and family inside the listing. The bed was a little old but still very much in shape. Everything was great and they even able to find you suppliers to surprise your couple if you needed any delivery/florist service. The only down side is that the rooms are being separated by a plywood. I could hear my neighbor's conversation, that's if they gets loud. Overall stay was really decent and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wishes to visit Penang Island. The husband was really helpful in sharing their local delicacies and he actually showed us where the locals hunt for their food.

A Comfortable Homestay
If you are a budget-traveller, this is a good guest house to stay. Located in the heart of Georgetown, it's within walking distance to shops and street food stalls. Gama shopping complex and Komtar the iconic building of Penang is also just a stone's throw away. The room, with an attached bathroom is clean, with basic facilities. It's air-cond too. It can accommodate 4 pax. That's value for money! The host, Chris and Faye, a husband and wife team, are very friendly, caring and helpful. Just ask them where you can have the best street food in Penang and you'll be fed with lots of info. Just nearby this guest house, there are bus stops for ' Penang Hop-On Hop-Off ' buses. For RM19 ( for Malaysians ) and RM 45 ( for foreigners ) the bus will take you for a tour of Penang. The ticket is valid for 24 hours. You can enjoy 2 tours. The City Tour and The Beach Tour. This is a great place to stay. We'll still choose Dou Houz when we next go to Penang again. Thanks Chris and Faye for your hospitality !

Family Style
Location is great, just beside Komtar, the tallest tower in Georgetown, and street foods are available at walking distance. Traveled with my mum and we had a room with sofa on first level. I'm very surprised to see such friendly and helpful host(best among all the trips I've done so far). Great loft design although it is not sound proof, but luckily we did not experience any noisy guests so I'm glad. Bed was comfortable(above my expectation at that kind of price) but pillow can be improved in thickness(personal preference actually) Bathroom facility is good, but wonder how come there is no ventilation(could be a bad choice for those whose poop smells awfully). Nonetheless, it is still a guest house that have friendly hosts and I will definitely pick this hotel again if I come back(they have a super cute rabbit too)!

Scandinavian design in the heart of Penang
Great little room, with 2 floors that comfortably slept 4 people. It was very clean, good air con and easy to find. About a 20 minute walk from Armenian Street and the rest of popular Georgetown. Owner gave us lots and lots of help with places to eat and things to see. Free water, maps and able to store our bags after checkout. Really great surprise for such little money!

Fantastic hosts, very comfortable
The hosts Chris and Faye seem to have an endless knowledge of George Town, and it's delicious secrets. When you arrive and are settled, they will load you up with a local map, full to the brim with tailored notes and suggestions. The rooms are super comfortable, with a Japanese inspired loft rooms, the living room below makes for a chilled spot to read, and the cosy private bathroom has a great hot shower with some serious pressure. Also there are a few bikes there which you can borrow to get around touring the town.
